Poly Count?

Ok, help me out here. I am working on models for Ominous Horizons. However, they are always way too high polied. For instance, my Youngblood model had about 600 polies when I finished the actual modeling of it. However, when I broke it apart (as the Wc3 art tools tutorial suggests) and added bones it went up to like 1500... Is there any way to combat this? Or do I just need majorly less detailed models?

Thanks,

Instead Of Mesh Editing, use poly editing. You can lower much more polies by doing that... :D

i wish this helped!

Ah, a simple fix.

The art tools comes with a bunch of scripts taht installs into max.

In the Utilities (little hammer icon) you must go to the "User Property Editor". Select all your bones, and under one of the settings (I think under geometry) you must change your bones from "Mesh" to "Bone".

Right now War3 recognizes every one of your bones as geometry, so flagging your geometry as bones would solve the problem.

Tips:

Flag bones as Bones in user properties. only the amount of tris are counted that are shown in the wc3 previewer. heck, the scene information even once said I used like 300 poly's while the actual previewer said 670 poly's

Just go from the point that the previewer is correct in this case

Another tip: a mesh with a double layer (TC and of course the blend image) will double the amount of poly's its wise therefore to give the entire mesh opaque, and then cut the polys into seperate meshes you wish to have TC on. This severly reduces amount of poly's
