Ok people, I will soon be releasing a beta of my new RPG. Although it's name is pretty lame (Original RPG), I think RPs will like it a lot. This game gives much freedom with character customization, and a lot of open quests.

These Character Options Include:
  • Race Selection - Dwarf, Elf, Tauren, Pandaren, Human, Orc, Troll, Night Elf, and possibly a hidden race that can be aquired later (Beta will consist of only Pandaren, Elf, and Human).
  • Class Selection for Every Race - Warrior, Mage, Marksman, Summoner, Necromancer, Warlock, Paladin, Healer, and more in the making (Beta will consist of Warrior, Mage, Marksman, and Summoner).
  • Stats - With a starting of around 30-40 points, you can customized your stats of Strength, Agility, and Intelligence.
  • Theme Song - Though it is still undecided, the amount of theme songs in the beta release will consist of 2.

There will also be 5 open quests in the beta release:
  • The Lost Hammer - You come across a injured Dwarf, judging by his wounds he has not much time left...
  • To Slay A Hydra - ...The bounty hunter offers you a position in slaying the hydra Venomstroth...
  • Forest Escort - You come across a young furbolgs being attacked by 3 more of his kind. Judging by the looks of his attackers, they are no longer living...
  • A Despret Allegiance - ...The shaman offers you a pact if you complete one quest for him, destroy the corrupted camp...
  • Loyalty or Riches? - ...Upon entering the chieftain's lodge, he offers you a wealthy contract. Assist them in their attack and any riches found will be yours...
Once I have complete enough of the beta, it will be posted here.

Please post your responses!

Burne
An easy choice. Dwarven Warrior, Boring, Elf Mage, Boring. Halfling Rogie, Boring (oh wait, not a choice). Warrior, Boring. Rose Knight (that does the same things as a Warrior), interesting. Mage, Boring. Lymphomancer, interesting.

You forgot Panda ;)
I believe I know what your getting at, you don't like the original class names or something? I'm trying to keep it open because I'm pretty sure nobody wants a f*cking Orc Roseknight...
Yes, I see it now
He rides his wolf town to town
Foaming at the mouth
With a withered rose in his hand
He draws his machette and butchers a woman's head
And gently drops the rose on her corpse

Although your idea of making a more ''free'' rpg with a new class system sounds interesting, I don't really like your quest system, it sounds alot like current open rpgs with the ''Open quest feature'', what will keep players playing your map? Do you have any new gameplay features you're thinking of releasing after or in beta?emote_confused

Im abit confused on what your map's new feature is apart from the classes, which does sound interesting but how will they affect gameplay.
Anyway, good luck on your map, i will gladly help you beta test, once beta map is released.:gsmile:

That is all.

Well you see, I'm trying out several new systems in which you can choose your stats instead of just having them auto. Now I know this isn't going to be what keeps players wanting, but I am still thinking of ideas. Any suggestions would be useful as well.

Now this may be hard for some of you to understand but I haven't released any map at all online for public hosting because I haven't found a site where I could do that until recently (this one). So, the way I see it, getting ANYTHING of mine to other users is considered a large step for me.

just an idea (am gonna use this in my own campaign) but have it so that depending on who the charcter helps will change his alliances such as he helps the humans rescue their children from fiendish naga then he gains the humans as an ally and the naga as an enemy also another thing would be to have different levels of alliances such as just starting will help them a little but as they help them more and more then the alliance grows and eventually you get your own pesant to build things for you(limited prolly a barracks or something) that with the gold you have you can muster up some humans and train them if you wanted you make a little mini camp and depending on how well then players trains them like spending alot of time with them they may become knights instead of footmen just ideas im gonna use in a campaign im making (currently on hold) but this might help

Well since this will be another open RPG I have some input that I was thinking of using in an open rpg once I figure out the trigger system and JASS.

Why not have the races and no classes? Basically have generic units for each race and let the player learn abilties fron quests and other npc characters along the way. This was you'd have ultimate flexability and replayability.

Another thing is to allow non-combat fun...like choosing to be a farmer, or scholar or some other non-combat based career. This would allow for other interesting characters and again adds to replay factor.

These are just a few ideas of mine that I thought I could share.

Hmm... not bad ideas, but there is a problem with that generic race thing. You see, a player can only hold about 6 abilities maybe 7, and with the triggering and all there isn't anyway for a hero to have abilities like that. It would be nice but it isn't possible (unless there is some kind of program attachment I've never heard of).

As for the racial alliance points, could work but I'm not seeing it any. I don't know if I mentioned this but by Open RPG I ment you have freedom over questing and stuff, there isn't going to be a way to build your own base or whatnot. There are going to be mercenaries you can hire from your allies (such has the "forest alliance" and "loyalty or riches" quests) in which they will follow you around. I think I did forget to mention that this game will be 3rd person.

Ok, just to let you all know, this is off topic from the Original Open RPG. Since I finally found a place to post games, I think I'll try posting one of my favorites, Quest for Sargeras. Although it is some what buggy and pretty hard to get used to, rest assured that there is a way to get your character and stuff. There are 9 characters to pick from, it is in third person, there is an optional dungeon, 2 wilderness areas, and an abbandon sea port in which you can explore and fight creatures. There are also 2 secrets, modified and custom abilities for every hero, music files from Razor Claw X (yes I did get his permission), and a plot. Now I bet some of you are thinking either "yea right" or "who gives a sh!t?", if your thinking anything but answer #2, then go ahead and download! If you modify, just keep the plot and my name in the credits, the rest is fine with me. By the way, by choosing to download this map you agree to the terms that any stealing and breaking of copywrite will result in multiple court fines and anything else in my power to aggitate the **** out of you.

Important Gameplay element:

YOU NEED A WAY TO WIN

This is very important, I am inching along at an open RPG myself, and there is a way way to win, and it involves killing everyone yes, but I may add a more eco-win too. Most Open RPG that are boring are that because you arn't work towards anything. Players need a goal to stay interested. eg. Th King of the land is captured and there is a ransom, one way to win is to work with the other players, and pool up enough gold to pay up. But then the Jack-ass might decide to keep it for himself and deal with the devil or something like that.
