Enabling and Disabling spells in a spellbook

Is there a way to do this? More the enabling than the disabling cuz once you learn it, it should stay. I suppose you could have spells that need an upgrade to go active but then they'll be in there and greyed and out what i have in mind is you can only see the spells that you have so far.

Has anyone done any work on this already?

No, it is not possible to create an in-game hero skill selection system this way. The abilities available within a spellbook aren't variable.

You could make it so when a person uses an item or w/e activates this, give them a new spellbook but remove the other and make the new 1 have the spells in it:D

I was bored so I created a system, not sure how good it is, it will remove any status bonuses from tomes and resest skills.

BattleBot, that was pretty wicked cool but not what i had in mind. What I'm trying to do is change the spells that are available inside a spellbook through triggers and what you did was change hero abilities available through triggers.

MurderMan, yes this would work but it would involve making a LOT of spellbook abilities and having a lot of extra triggering for each new spell you wanted to add (assuming that you could get new spells in a non-pre-determined order) and the point of this thread is to try and figure out what is possible outside of that method.

couldnt you have it when the player clicks spellbook it selects another unit in addition then you can chose one of that units spells *sense its not a spell book you can add and remove* Then give the spell to the hero, and have the hero cast it, then remove the spell. Hows that sound to you? Though you couldn't use hero skills.. Thats one problem. don't know if you want that.

I need a break from my campaign, I am making a spellbook where there are about 8 spells you can choose from and it will only take 1 item slot. I am going to bed now so I wont get it done untill tomarrow.

Try giving the spellbook abilities upgrade requirements. Check off every abilities "Check Dependecies" and give them their upgrades needed in order to use it. Whenever you want the player to be able to use that spell, set that research level of the upgrade to 1.
