Do you listen to music while you make your art?

sorry if this is off-topic and in the wrong place, but music seems to be good to listen to while drawing/painting/whatever, so i'm wondering what kinda music you guys listen to while you make art, or if you even listen to any music.

it seems to really influence what kind of art i make, for example if i'm listening to techno i draw robots and stuff... and if i'm listening to rock i draw orcs and warriors and stuff like that (even more specific stuff, like if its a calm song, the guy im drawing will be a spellcaster, but if its a fast song he'll be a warrior :ggani:)... of course rock is my favorite type of music, so that explains all the warcraft art.. :foot:



but when im doin art on the computer i just put all the music in my kazaa shared folder on the winamp playlist and play random songs from there, and for some reason the song that it always plays first is 'die trying - never good enough'.... so that song will always remind me of drawing.... its my lil art theme song now... :ggani:

Good idea leppy! :D I usually listen to music when I'm working on the art. Random stuff, just like you. But no, it doesn't influence what I am drawing. Though I noticed that music does influence colors I choose for space pics.

well, the reason why music influences my art so much is probably because i start drawing without even knowing what i'm gonna draw. :ggani: i just start makin some lines and then turn them into something, or if i know its gonna be a humanoid just start on a face doing the eyebrows and head before i even know if its gonna be a man or a woman or an orc or whateva ://// :D

I like to listen to music while I draw sometimes, yesterday it was Techno while I was drawing that female footsolider... sometimes I listen to a clasical type, and other times hard rock/metal. Sometimes I listen to stand up comedians... doesnt affect my drawings I dont think, Just like it...

I ned music to draw on lol... i change it depending what i want to draw... (rightn now its Audio Bullies :D )

when i listen to alternative dance like Audio Bullies my work tend to get a little more cartoony, while rock will get me growling warriors and barbarians lol...

I listen music while I draw or CG - Darker music is better for me to skin aliens with (Need something evil to make something evil .:gsmile: )

Sometimes listen to rock/alternative, sometimes Celtic/New Age, or various other random things... and I don't think it affects the work.

Heavy Metal is good for when you are drawing the character with the shady past... the "anti-hero"

Or for drawing about anything else... Du Hast is the best one so far...

Indeed, I always listen to music when I work on my art. The type of the music, I find, does affect the result sot some degree. However, I usually know what the end result will be like before I start.

Depending on what mood I'm in/shooting for, I will arbitrarily listen to Game music (gotta love Hitoshi Sakimoto), Symphonic metal (Rhapsody, Kamelot, etc), or Classical.

I don't. It's too distracting. I'll listen to music when I'm studying or doing something that doesn't require too much moving. Otherwise I can't concentrate.

I listen to a lot of celtic music, its so moody and perfect. I also listen to the scorpion king sound track with a lot of different songs and the Final Fantasy X sound track.

For me, music doesn't really affect my drawings much. It mostly affects the rate I draw at. That is the reason my drawings have barely any or no details at all. While I draw I tend to listen to System of a Down, KoRn, Guano Apes, the occasional Eminem song, and Gorrilaz.
