I've been thinking about a new map i could make (although i havent finished a few.. my comp is too slow and theyre too big. im getting a new one this week), and after playing a series of flash games, this one caught my interest: Http://www.xgenstudios.com/fishy/index.htm ... SO, i was thinking again, and thought that a game like that would be fun to play over BNet on wciii. so heres the plan. vote (or post) if i should do it, either Yes or No. The game will be called Fishy :) You start in an underwater environment (its gonna be size 128x128 in sunken ruins terrain, under full shallow water.. or should it be deep, or even none? someone tell me....) as a size 1 fish. There are other fish bigger or smaller than you that roam around underwater with you as well, along with your enemies (players. you cant eat them, and they cant eat you. the game will be like worm wars without segments i guess...). You each will race to become a size 100 fish. You gain a 'size point' each time you eat a marine animal smaller than you (but some special fish units give more points than others). If you get eaten by a marine animal larger than you (one that wanders around), you get 3 size points taken from you. Each time you eat a smaller fish to become larger, you can eat bigger fish. In your early stages of growing (like sizes 1-10), you can eat level 0 things like plankton, or nibble on coral. However, I know that there could be hundreds of 'cheats' in this that i wouldnt know how to prevent from happening, like some player just eating plankton until he got level 100. Since im not even in my early teen years yet, i hope someone could give me advice on how to do this better :P.. Another thing, however, is that i cant manage triggers... As probably hundreds of you already know, I am the biggest trigger noob this side of the west coast. The only thing i can really do (and quite well) is terraining. Unit editing is easy noob stuff though, and i can do that... So basically, this is my map idea. Like i already stated, there could be a series of flaws in this, which i hope some of you could point out to me. I havent started the map yet, however... I need to know what other people think about this before i make it. If i decide to make it, i might have to switch it off with another person (or get in a mapping clan to help me) during the triggering process. But anyway, I hope this idea is good enough.. Please vote whether you like it or not... I'd appreciate it ;) EDIT: Oh and i forgot. I was thinking of an evolution type option you could use. For example, the fish you start out as, when it reaches its 5th sp (size point), opens up a menu where you select what type of fish you would like to become as you go. For example, you could become level 5sp and select to become a shark. you then, turn into a shark, and evolve at level 20sp again. then you evolve at level 50sp, then 80sp. Here are the 'evolution' options, and what they turn into. Bird -- Albatross, Stork, Crane, Pelican Shark -- Lemon Shark (VERY weak), Tiger Shark, Great White Shark, Mako Shark Eel: Shocking Eel, Electrifying Eel, Morray Eel Ray: Small Manta Ray, Grown Stingray, Mature Devil Ray Barracuda: Barracuda Hatchling(EXTREMELY weak), Silverfin Barracuda, African Barracuda, Giant Barracuda(Almost as strong as Mako Shark) Normal Fish (Quick but weak) -- Sea Minnow, Clown Fish, Giant Seahorse, Red Cod. Crabs (Medium damage, and heavily armored) -- Small Red Crab, Krusty Krab, Giant Alaskan King Crab (God Bless Outback Steakhouse) Lobsters -- Lobster Prawn, Medium-Sized Red Lobster, Overfed Red Lobster Dangerous Fish -- Lionfish, Angler, Mutated Australian Carpet Shark Whale (Slow, but strong and well armored) -- Newborn Orca, Free Willy, Whale Shark (Though its not a whale..), Giant Blue Whale. Thats what I've come up with so far... However, I don't know if that might mess with the game plan, since its not just one fish getting bigger and bigger... you decide.. and please post your thoughts on this. I really like this idea :santa: |

I just want to mention that ::Fishy:: is a one player game, and im not sure it will translate to two player very well. But other then that, go for it (or gopher it!)! |

Well, like I posted earlier, it will be like Worm Wars. It's like a race. Like in Worm Wars, you basically just ignore your enemies (cept for the segments they use to keel joo..), and go for the goal, which is to get to a certain number of segments.. Just like Fishy where you have to get to a certain size. EDIT: I think I also stated that it would not be completely like Fishy.. just based on it. |

Ok, I just thought of something. Instead of having that evolution and 'size points' thing both together, i can put them into seperate games, like modes. You start out like in Spellcraft, in a little square room. There are 3 switches around you which you step on to choose the mode. The first mode is Classic Fishy Mode, second is Evolution Mode, third I havent thought of yet.... if anyone can give me some ideas, ill put you in the credits :) |

why dont u just go ahead and make the game more like EVO for super nintendo or SEVENTH CROSS: EVOLUTION for dreamcast (both are awesome games if u get into them) and for the cheating make u only able to gain sizes from plankton if ur a size between 1 and 10 |

Why dont you make one like insaquarium: http://www.popcap.com/gamepopup.php?...=insaniquarium Be much better, though fishy seems cool, if not a bit not like darwins island underwater. |

I think it would be a good idea to read the forum rules. Although I hold no power, I suggest you post this kind of thread in Off-Topic Quote:

Kejos: *ahem* Well... Okay, I'm making the map. When I'm done with the terrain, I'll probably be requesting some fish, shark, eel etc. models from people. Also, since i can do a little in it, I'm gladly accepting cow models/skins for my map Escape From MooMoo Land... there was a thread about it in the requests forum. But for now, here's the map plan... When you get into the game, the loading screen/preview will be a picture of Nemo from Finding Nemo :) (that was the friggin greatest movie of my life!!!) When you enter the game, the host is taken to a square room where you select the mode you wish to play. The 2 modes i have so far are Evolution Mode and Classic Mode. I 'might' be adding a mode similar to EFMML (escape from moomoo land) or EFH, where theres things you do and dont want to step on.. like some indiana jones motif :) In Classic Mode, you and the other players (11 max) are level 1 fish that have to get level 100. It's like Fishy (with its own game room)... Every time you eat a fish smaller than you, you get raised by 1 SP (size point). Every time you die or get eaten by a bigger fish, you get 3 SPs taken from you. There will be certain powerups and secret areas that you can find in the game room that help you :) In Evolution Mode, you are taken to the 'World Map' off the coast of some popular island with people. It's VeRy similar to Darwin's Island. You gain levels to become a better fish (but the game style is more like '[BK's] Evolution). Every time you gain a.. wait..... humm... nvm! I just noticed something that i have to think over about the evolution process... i need more units I think... hmm.. Well, anyway, about the map. You start in the center, which is the Coral Reef Beds. You can kill other players to get exp to level. To the Northwest is the town of Fishyville. If you go near the docks there, be careful... theres humans at the docks that are fishing during the day, and boats coming out at night. going near them will kill you. (however, if anyone else has a better idea of what might happen instead of 'death', post it :)) Around Fishyville, a bunch of small things like algae, crabs, and lobsters hang around. So even though its dangerous, Fishyville is the best starting place. To the Southeast is the island tropics. There's also a small island with fishermen on it, and some people have rabid pet turtles to send at you when you come close... This area is for medium level fish. To the *Northeast* is the Frozen Ice Caps. Here, the water gets very icy and you get slowed down alot. Eskimos fish around here, and seals and walruses swim around hunting for fish. This is an area for high level fish only.. it's hard to get around =S... To the /\/\North/\/\ are the Hilly Mountains. There are no fishermen here, but the place is very large and has lots of uber high level fish. Goats hang around here in shallow water looking for food....... and theres a h3ll of alot of em too. to the <<West<< is the Sunken Ship. It's like Finding Nemo's ship where Dori and Marlin meet teh sharks and all... there are mines on chains in front of the ship which you must avoid. Touching them makes em all go boom and kills other players around em too :) When you go near the ship, you're ported to a large enclosed area (which will be on the east side of the map next to the beginning where you select your mode), where theres floating planks, panels, boxes, etc.. made to look like you're really in a boat. In here, there's lots of high high high level sharks(level 80-90). To the >>East>> theres.... well... open sea... with whales and stuff. It's a really really wide area where whales and small fish hang around. A good place for levels 10-20, and 95-98 (you can eat the whales)... Incase you were wondering, for the last two levels 98 and 99, you have to eat humans. You can't be fished at that level, so you go up to the humans and take a big wig of their shoulders :) When you get level 100, you recieve the option of either (like in DI) dominating the ocean and invading, or becoming your final *uber* stage where you're.. well.. uber! At that level, you can eat other players... And about the map again, around the center areas (center left, center right, etc..), there will be some hidden areas like under rocks you go into little boxed areas with minnows (level 1-5 fish), and in one area theres a little island with one palm tree on it where a bum lives. Using bif's real 'evolution' idea, if you eat him, you get the Stench Aura ability which is like disease cloud maybe.. I dunno, I'll have to think that over. But that's the map I've thought of so far! If you have any ideas, post em here :) ~Wivvy (A.K.A. KaMiKaZe.CoW) |

Sounds cute, but yeah, DEFINATELY check out Evo for the SNES. Why limit yourself to fish->bigger fish->biggest fish when you could mix and match evolutions? For example, if you eat a lot of plankton, you could gain algal symbionts, and gain health whenever you're in sunlight. If you eat a lot of clams, you gain armored plates. If you eat a lot of seagulls, you get wings. You could even do this with items, and if a player chooses to ditch a mutation, they can simply drop the item (obviously, have a trigger watch for a "lost mutation" and zot the item so nobody else can have it). Essentially, this IS a fun concept of map, but I've NEVER seen it done well with Warcraft. Most of the time, it's "kill stuff get big kill players" the game. The more variety you build into the game, the more fun it will be to try new things, not just powerlevel. Also - make the fish have to fight their prey before they devour them. Once you kill a fish, then a floating carcass would show up (a 1 hit point, inert fish) that you could devour. Organisms that can't defend themselves could just be devoured immediately, but organisms with defenses would definately have to be subdued before you could devour them. Essentially, set the max creep level on devour a little lower. Plankton, algae, and carcasses would be under the level cap, so you could eat them right away. Everything else would be higher level, so that you'd have to kill them to get the carcass. Also, it would reward you for killing monsters (exp) but you wouldn't have to take on those mutations if you didn't want to waste time eating the fish. AND it would allow players to be scavengers, simply following behind other fish and cleaning up the dead - crabs are largely scavengers. So yeah, that was like 5 minutes of thought - like I said, rich concept. Use it FULLY. |

This map sounds like it could be fun. but it needs a little work. |
