Some sort of selectiveness in download section: proposition

I was looking though the download section, and I noticed there are tons of "icons" which are:
  1. In jpeg/gif/etc formats
  2. Have no border (certain icons like the worm ones look fine like this, but not many)
  3. Extremly fuzzy/look like there made with paint
  4. The wrong size
  5. Things such as 4 blizzard icons inverted inm photoshop- with a white background still
I understand that no one whats to feel left out, byt really is that a showcase of useful downloads? Some sort of moderation and marking in the downloads section would to wonders towards this. See a icon of som erandom Undead ability just inverted, mark it and help keep the section clean.

I have also seen several maps submitted multiple times- with no way to alert the mods to delete some of them.

I understand that someone may find a use for a blizzard icon with the background white with red lines scribbled on it (just made that up), but mostly it will cause massive flaming.

Speaking of that, this would sort out the ones that people just go into to flame after seeing the preview, which I had seen many of.

I hope that something is done about this, but I hope even more what is done is best for this site. Please show your (dis)support at the poll.

Currently we are porting the entire site over to vb3, after which it will have any entire new look, some functionality will be changed drastically. Because of this no one has been improving the old version (vb2) of the downloads area. Currently moderators cant moderate it, only a certain admin has that duty, but once the vb3 part of the site opens we will be looking for moderators to patrol the area for spam and verify new files. Since you show so much concern maybe you would like to volunteer for the position?

I agree. A lot of the files are just plain screwy, and shouldn't be in there. And if no one else wants it, I am interested in the position Stoned.

I'd love to moderate the download section, so sign me up if you can :D. As far as I know, I dont really hate anyone on this site, so Bias isnt a problem.

I completely agree. Hopefully we'll get some responsible people who'll moderate it properly. I volunteer for the position, and I also think that alpengeist is a great candidate.

i also agree. the download section is the main attraction to guests on wc3c and with it looking like it was done by a 2 yr old (no offence to those pplz who did it) it will not attracted many viewers,

thats my opinion neway take it anyay you like.

Thats a another point that I neglected to mention. With new users checking out the download section first, would you be impressed if you saw some of the current downloads? I certainly wouldnt.

I read Stoned's post and it doesn't say: Post here to get a moderator job on the downloads section.
