I know i really sound like a noob saying this, but how do you put a skin into a map? I've tried countless times, but im still confused about how to do it..... the unit always ends up as a green and black checkered box, and a big yellow message on the bottom left saying stuff like Unit file could not be found: Units\Critters\VillagerMan\VillagerMan.blp and all.... Ill give someone 10 points for a full and complete explanation of this :) Thx, Wivvy |

Alright, you import the skin. Then, you go to import manager, click the skin, check "Custom Filepath," type in the EXACT filepath (i.e., Units\Human\Arthas\Arthas.blp), then save and reopen WE. Hope this helps, and I don't want points. |

its not working... tell me if im doing this right. ------- 1) import the skin 2) close the editor 3) open it back up 4) put the skin on a unit ------- Every time, the model/skin just ends up being a green and black checkered box.. EDIT: Oh oops, wait im doing it wrong :) but first, what do you mean by 'type in the EXACT file path'? what am i sposed to put? |

each blp for a unit skin has a custom path. The Tauren would be... Units\Orc\Tauren\Tauren.blp Arthas would be... Textures\Arthas.blp They are all different. In the blank in the import manager when you double click your import it says by default warcraft3imported\whatevertheunitis.blp You have to replace it with the custom path. Tell, me/us what unit you are using and we'll say the path. To actually find the path of a unit (without asking us) you should get some kind of mpq viewer like warcraft3viewer. then search for the unit. it should tell you the path for it and give you the blp for it. you can get warcraft3viewer in the downloads section of this site. hope that cleared things up. :D |

No xD right now im doing the White Villager Man w/ Suit skin (its in dowloads/skins)... I put in the path of the unit skin i want it to replace (VillagerMan1), but it turns the file name into Villager Man 1.. do i want that to happen? or am i doing something wrong... |

You mean in the import manager. Yes its supposed to do that, if you put it to the right path, which btw is Units\Critters\VillagerMan1\VillagerMale1.blp in case you didnt have it correct. Try to see if that works. |

*sigh* no... another checkered box... said "Could Not Load File Units\Critters\VillagerMan1\VillagerMale1.blp" I'm confused =( I really wanna put this skin in, but im a noob in everything in the WE cept terraining and object editing... sucky suck! |

Ok, please explain in complete detail what you did from the start of using this skin including what you did with the unit (villager male) and what you did in the import manager. :bgrun: |
| 02-19-2004, 03:13 AM | #11 |
1) I opened the manager 2) I imported the file WhiteVillagerMale.blp 3) Like you said, I changed the custom pathing to Units\Critters\VillagerMan1\VillagerMale1.blp 4) I retarded--*cough* I mean restarted the WE 5) Replaced the model file of the unit i wanted to be skinned with Units\Critters\VillagerMan1\VillagerMale1.blp 6) it became a checkered box =S ...I bet I did something sooo wrong.. |

For my skin ( that doesnt work so dont follow this ... my skin turns out depicted in colors and parts .... ( its weird ) ) ... I opened WC3IE2 ... saved as tga from the textures section ( thats better ( easier paths ) ) saved a arthas ... edited it ... saved it over the default arthas that was saved from WC3IE2 ... Then ... opened it in WC3IE2 and saved it as a blp ... then went to import manager in world edit and imported the blp file ... changed the path to ... Textures\Arthas.blp but it doesnt work so dont follow that |

here's a quick tut... -make ur skin w/ psp then save as .tga -open wc3viewer -go to convert files, bmp, tga, or jpg->.blp -pic ur .tga file -keep pressing ok until it says converted -go to WE import manager -go to import file -select ur ".blp" file -double click ur file after it has been added to ur import files list -type in the texture file of ur skinned unit -save ur map -shut WE and open again |

yeah , just save as tga , edit , save again , open in wc3ie2 , save it as a blp , put it in your map , change the custom path to whatever you extracted from the wc3ie2 |
