here's an idea I always wanted to see done in a map but I'm not really skilled enough or prepared to try it ... yet. Do a monopoly map! Ya! You could make it a square map and have certain regions be properties, and use triggers and whatnot to set up the gameplay. You could get really creative making the gaming pieces (like using cool unit models with sfx, etc), and add in all kinds of special effects. You could even give it neat terrain and have different buildings setup for different properties. OMFG heres a better idea, make it a warcraft storyline based monopoly. Each property could be based from a warcraft location. This might sound corny to some people and hell it might've already been done before (although I'm not aware of it) but man it could be the ultimate multiplayer map if done with originality! ------------------------------------------------------------ Here's another idea. Do a "Sims" map, based on those really popular Sims games by Maxis. You could simulate social behaviors and even have it so players build their own homes, and force certain goals to be accomplished in order to "move up" socially and become successful. Theres 1000 ways you could take this idea man. BASICALLY, I've got endless neat ideas, but only mediocre skill with triggering (the part of triggering involving all the advanced math is what kills me, which is why I cant make good custom spells). If you want more ideas let me know :) -Huh |

Sorry I wasn't aware. I don't play on battle.net much anymore (at least not as much as I used to) so I really wouldnt know. My guess though, is the reason they ones made never became too popular was because they weren't made that well. In all honesty, I think a very well thought out, well made map that the maker(s) took their time on, could become very popular indeed. The problem with b.net is alot of people want to get their name out so they just go around making shoddy maps that have at least one addictive nature and host them all the time so people download it and play it. By this I mean maps that have maybe a couple secret overpowered heroes that everyone wants to know how to use, etc.. stuff like that. Monopoly is a really old game but it appeals to alot of people even today because of the solid gameplay dynamics behind it. Maybe one of these days I'll make one myself, who knows. STILL THOUGH, I think my Sims map is an awesome idea. Would be incredibly hard to do though... |

yeah, sims would be hard.. like a more advanced version of real life.. BTW, monopoly maps were never EXTREMELY popular like DOTA or such, but were pretty fun to play. |

It seems a very popular thing is being able to save and load a Hero into different games, so if you go the RPG route, try something like that. |

If you highly skilled, then I'd suggest something like an arena or RPG, Now, that not my idea exactly, but something I've been playing with is trying to get fully customizable heroes. I'm thinking you could create a system where, let's say, you hade several different models of heads, torso's, legs, arms, then connect them through the sphere ability (that would be badass) but through triggers you have them up thier stats when thay level, choose custom abilities from a list when they level, and best off, be able to equip different weapons and armor (with models) I think that would become a very popular map, at least I know I'd love it :gsmile: I'm working on a map (very slow progress) that I kinda have these elements, like, different weapon proficiencies, and skills like duel wield and hide, but because I can't get a freaken model with a good attack, it hasn't gone too far, (plus I need armor models) if you like this idea, tehn tell me if it will be an arena or RPG, cause I wanna help out :ggani: |

but... then why, if you know ur not allowed to, do it anyways? God, what an idiot /me is deciding wether to hit that report button, he decides he will wait for now. ANyways! you should make a stronghold map!(you know, the castle game? do a shearch on it, it kicks major ass) if you could recreate that it'd kick much more ass then any lame-ass map ANYWHERE. hehehe |
