Ok, this isn't urgent, but just as a matter of interest, is it possible to: 1. Have a turret that rotates to face the unit's target, the unit being a movable tank rather than a fixed position turret (like the cannon tower)? 2. Have the tank attack while moving without the use of triggers? |

Not without making the turret a separate model or object, I don't think so. (I'm following the development of a tank model, and we already brought this question up.) Quote:
Oh dear ... I've asked this question repeated :P It may look off, but Phoenix Fire with its art changed to the unit's normal missile art & no "poison" damage over time (from the burning), may be your best bet. Make four versions, the first with damage matching the unit's normal damage, and one version each to match the unit's damage after an upgrade, for first, second and third upgrade. P.S. This may lead to the unit opening fire on targets it's just passing by ... |

As I suspected. Thanks! *wishes Blizzard would release a Warcraft SDK...* |

I think that's what World Editor was supposed to be ... The problem with Locust is that they'll linger near the auto-acquired targets after you've moved out of weapon range. There's two more problems with strafing fire (which I'm doing too) -- you can't key it to only work on attack-move like I'd wanted, and there's a slight unbalance because attacking an object instead of a point effectively doubles the unit's volume/rate of fire. |

Well, strafing isn't the really critical part the tank idea that I was looking at, it was more the ability to have rotating turrets and elevating barrels. I guess it isn't such a loss if Abrams and T-59s have to turn to fire, it just looks pathetic. 8)) EDIT: I just spoke to one of the people on Gatecraft about how they were going to work the Hummvees gun. He said something about how they could animate two models and use attachment points...I was just wondering, what does this do and how difficult is it to use? EDIT II: Never mind, they just finished the sentence... |

well, phoenix fire is good, but if you make a unit that is non selectable and is non seeable, and make it go to the location of the tank every like 1 second, then give it a custom barrage that only shoots one missle, then you got your attack while moving. the floating unit with barrage idea is how Pluck Yew works with the Maiden in ToB. That way she can fire multi arrows, but maintain her own main attack that doesnt do the low damage. |
