Well, i havent seen a general favourite maps thread (although i may be mistaken) so, to the point, what are your favourite maps of all time, and why?

Points to consider: Revolutionary gameplay, technological brilliance (DOTA (ROC) and its cutsom spells), sheer fun, Replayabilty etc.

Hopefully we can see what maps people loved (alot will be old) and hopefully give budding mappers some ideas to liven up the rather nasty realm of B.net custom games. We may also give some newer players a chance to learn of some of the clasics long since forgotton (or modded to version41.12334BETA VERSION GOLD *shudder*)

Are you sure this is the right forum to put this in? I don't think this is the place for this thread man. But in any case...
-Aeon of Strife (The Origional wc3 version) I still have it you know...
-Wintermaul (This one got completely out of hand the first was the best, and the toughest, and required the most teamwork) I still have this one too...
-Cube Defence (this one was always fun)
-Spellcraft is new, but quite fun
-I don't feel like delving into the depths of my "Old WC3 Maps" folder, but yes, the old ones were the best. Custom abilites is amusing, but not necessarily replayable like those ones.

Alrighty....

-The RoC Castle Defences, great challenging gameplay=infinite replayability
-The early versions of wintermaul before all the bs races were added, and dont get me started on the clones.

And to a lesser extent, some of the earliest fmws were it wasnt all AOE spam fest, I played sheeps tags for awhile, ditto with Zoator td......Im sure there are some Im forgetting, ill edit this l8a

I like hero arenas and am making one that'll have a hero selection system where you can choose the abilities that you like.

I like it because it has no lag and it's simple and pure fun. Just control 1 hero and go hack and slash your enemy!

I am making a hero arena (Have been for quite some time mind you!), aswell. Not much more to say.

Anyway, Cube D. rules. I am the ULTIMATE MAZE MASTER.

Doom, Played over 500 Times, Yet to beat it still...That map is FUN. Spellcraft is fun too for being new, but all time best map is Doom.

I must say, it does seem that modern maps have lost some of the magic of thier predecessors, is it because we are just used to everything we see in maps? DOTA bakc in the ROC days wowed us by having polished custom abilties (SLK styles) causing it become insanly popular. Yet nowadays any map with out trigger aided spells is now nothign special. Has the qualility of the maps produced going down, or are we just gettign picky?

A little of both, Dota sucks now, any noob mapper can remake it, hell to tell you the truth, when i first started maping when tft came out i poped open a dota, changed some things and played it...Thank god i cant host or it woulda spread....
We are getting picker since spells are easy to customize and without trigger effects most spells just suck, back when where it was near impossible to do things (original dota) we were wowed and amazed with these trigger SLK spells...So to answer ur question we got picker i think...

Not to mention that DOTA maps are so laggy towards end-game situations, where the countless units that've died are still considered to be in the game!

-Balins Tomb- pretty awesome, probably has a lot of complex triggers. LOTR is always nice.
-Sheep Tag- really fun
-The new Footmen Wars GOD- no mana or cooldown on any ability, extremely fun.
-TOB- very fun and addictive, nice skins. NICE!! :D :D
-my last one- Siege on Gondor- LOTR again

I loved Katan's hero arena before all those tome abusers, (used to play it in a LAN with my brother, didn't know that tomes could make everything easier for agility heroes, so it was actually fun.
