Eye of the Storm

This is the new campaign i am making. I would ask for help (which I may need) but I think I might not finish it so I'll do what i can on my own. It has 3 small campaigns. Human, Elf (not night Elf) and Orc. However, each campaign only has about 5 or so missions each. It is set on a group of islands in the centre of the Maelstrom, where humans and elves have lived for a long time. However, then some Orcs turn up, followed by the Burning Legion.

Human Prologue:
Cinematic showing the 3 islands zoomed out. Used thick grass for trees and pathing (below human buildings) for towns/cities and 1 ship moving around.
60% complete (terrain done but no triggers)

Human 1:
You are James (a child/Timmy) you see Orcs coming (this mission set at the time of the war between bloodlusted Orcs and Humans) and the Orcs kill your father and brother. You run away and find your Uncle Henry (who is Captain of the Asheron(city name)Guards). He and his men kill the Orcs.
100% complete (it runs fine but i might well improve it)
Problems: How to make it longer and more fun without making it impossibly difficult.

Human 2:
28 years later you are still James, who is now Captain of the Asheron Guard. The Orcs are back (this time shipwrecked from Grom and Thralls expedition) and you have to capture various Circles of Power from them.
50% complete (terrain but no triggers)
Problems: There are people (including a hero) who you have to talk to (they go to your team). The problem is preventing the mission from being completed until then.

Human 3:
There is a Castle (Starspire Keep) which has been turned into a museum. The Orcs have taken hostages, including the curator, Henry (now an old man) and you have to free them.
10% complete(basic outline of castle done but nothing else)
Problems: How to make an effective hostage rescuing system

The rest of the story goes:
An Orc leader gives himself up to you in mission 3, and you have to stop him from being recued, then organise a treaty and prevent it from being destroyed.

Elf Campaign----
A cinematic where the unnamed elf hero (known as X from now on) is forced to leave Kalimdor with the rest of the High Elves. You have to establish a base on the new island, then it cuts to several thousand years later. You have to hunt down some Orcs, but then a bit later the Legion arrives, trying to use the remaining power of the (old) Well of Eternity to summon Sargeras. You have to defend a main elf city until James comes. He does, butr the city falls anyway. You then have to escape to the uninhabited island.

Orc Campaign----
It starts with an Orc here (Y) and his escape from Draenor (at the end of the War2 addon) then he lands on uninhabited island. Ten it cuts right to the demon bit. All 3 races have to make bases among the hostile Neutrals before stopping the Undead/Demonic advance. They then have to get onto the middle island, where Ashzara's old palace stood, and interrupt Archimonde's summoning (just have to hit him once) Archimonde tries to kill Y, but James (previously and Orc-hater) gives his life instead. Archimonde, seeing the instability in the islands, with it being so close to collapse, leaves for the New well of eternity in Kalimdor and the few Orc, Human and Elf survivors head for Azeroth (not knowing if the Scourge was confined to Lordaeron). THE END.

New stuff:

Human units:
Replacements for dwarf and elf stuff

Elf units:
Elves need a heavy Melee unit.

Orc Units:
Replacements for Kalimdor stuff

Demons:
A demon aerial transport

New Heroes etc...

Coments and constructive criticism welcome, but no 'ur map sucks' without a reason please.

Love the idea! though you might want to show hwo Timmy does become the Captain(up to you though)

An idea for the Elves heavy melee which i've been using is the big metal golem with remodified stats... in fact, i started my own high elf campaign with pretty much the same story idea where they leave Kalimdor aeons ago. though i stopped doing the project)

if this is before the wc3 timeline you can use orc warlocks, ogres and dragons instead of the kalimdor units

human units... well if you aren't planning on modelling i guess you can use the bandit assassins as ranged units and maybe a special 'monk' class with fast attack low armmor but evasive ability and use emmisary model for priest or sorc type caster or even an offensive spell caster with blizzard or something.

anyways good luck

It looks like a good campaign!

I got interested!

For some ideas, try this:

Human 1: To make it longer, make it a hide-and-run map, much like Night Elf 2 in the main Warcraft 3 campaign. Place some "dark places" where the boy becomes invisible and need to wait there tilll the danger goes away, or place a few parts where soldiers and others appear to help the boy.

Human 2: Place the rescuable units in strategic places where you NEED to go to reach some Circles of Power

Oh yes, the Kid's name is JAMES not Timmy (that was just a name that everyone uses for the kid graphic). Bandit Spear Throwers is EXACTLY what I was using anyway. I have (at present) also got the spell units as Fire Templar (a red Acolyte with fire spells) and Volcanic warrior (a melee unit with some spells - looks like a red infernal. However, these could changer. The rescuable units on Human 2 are 'Rogues' (Bandit Spearthrowers with Riflemen stats and the Hero, the 'Outlaw Chiftain'. And yes, in Orc 1, old Orc and old Human units are back! (What size of Dragon should I use?) I really like the Siege Golem idea (i assume you mean Siege not Granite) an will use that. SO my techree now goes:

Human:
BARRACKS trains: Footman, Rogue, Knight
FIRE TEMPLE trains: Fire Templar, Volcanic Warrior
ALTAR OF KINGS trains: Captain of the Guard, Outlaw Chieftain,...
WORKSHOP trains: Flying thing (if I am having modelling done, a biplane would be perfect) and Siege weapon (skinned using catapult model?)
AVIARY needs a replacement...

Elf:
BARRACKS trains: Warrior, Archer, Ballista
DRAGONHAWK ROOST(model undecided)trains: DragonHawks (mounted Hippogryph-style???)
ALTAR OF LIFE (new skin over Altar of Kings)trains: Archer - ish person, Figher,...

Orc:
BARRACKS trains: Grunts, Headhunters, Catapults
BEASTIARY trains: Raiders, Ogres, Something else (new skin?)
TAUREN TOTEM needs a replacement... Ogres again and find something else for other Ogre unit?

So I will probably need a decent skin person eventually but not yet. More comments, please! Do you think this thing is completable? I might ask for help, just still wondering if I have the commitment myself... emote_confused

Your ideas are very cool. I wish you luck!

Some of these ideas match with mine ideas for a campaign... Anyway, we think much alike... :D

Right... I have finaaly decided to gather a team for this campaign. I will need:

Terrain/Map Person: Me.
Trigger Person: I can do a little if really necessary, but...
Unit editor person: " " " " " " " " ...
Skinner: Need someone ok at this.
Modeller: There are some easy models and one hard (ish) one.
Story Person: Me, but you all can give thoughts/ideas.
Writing script: Me, or someone else if they want.
Art(if necessary): Me.
Website: I will decide if it's needed.
Voice Actors: I will get some later.

At present I will need one of each OR if someone is good at 2 things they can do 2 parts if they want. Modellers/Skiiners can you maybe post some of your past work, so I can see the quality.
No timewasters, please!

This is a campaign, not a mod sorry. Demons are not playable. Also, it would be a bit unbalanced, since Archimonde basically kicks anyone else.

Well, I've been working on skins, and I think I have something worth showing (just can't work out how to implement). Here is the skin for the elf hero, the Shadow Walker:

(I know it's not all that good but its a first attempt
