Spell Help - Hydra

like i said in my last thread, i am making a diablo III game, and i want to make it as simliar as posible to the real thing. i already have corpse explosion complete (thanks to shimrra) and now i need to do hydra (for sorceress)

i was thinking of wen the hydra attacks, it creates 3 dummy units that are hard to see and unselecteble near the hydras mouths. this is to make it look as real as possible. if anyone knows how to do this, i would be greatful :D

I would suggest you use, like you said, three units. That way you could get three different attacks. You can also do that using phoenix fire, although I'm not sure how...

What model are you using for the Hydra heads?

hmm im going to use the ancient hydra one, and try to lower its height.

i did this in the world editor, so you could only see its head, except when i played the game, it was regular and you were able to see the whole model :(

You might need a custom model for it.

Try requesting one in the models forum. I can't model either, or I'd do it for you. Anyway, I'll see if I can put together a working Hydra spell (without model). When you get the model, or decide what you want to use for it, you can just implement the triggers and switch my Hydra model with yours.

:o wow you made it fast, if i tried, it would have taken me about 5 hours just to fail :(


but about the hydra, ITS PERFECT!


the only problem is the model, wen the middle head attacks, the others move back, and fire comes out near the hydra, but thats not ur fault, its the model. but i was thinking of making it that the hydra doesnt move when it attacks, like have no animation.

Altering animation files would involve .mdl or .mdx editing...

:( how about make it that the hydra doesnt attack, just stand there. and make a trigger that ever 0.01 of the game, play the hydra's stand animation that will make it look like its stiff.

You could, but it would likely lag, especially on slower machines.

i didnt know it would cause lag, because i was messing with triggers and made it that a preist would look dead and was hit by impale and bones flew out. that was in a map i was testing with, and i made 3 models and they didnt lag :D

the models should be near the cross if not, then i sent in the wrong map :/
