Hi, mate... You can import it to the World Editor (by Blizzard), but I'm using a program called W3M Map Utilities, and using this program is much easier – also because of the great number of other tools in it… Anyways, the program can be downloaded here (in the bottom). When you have installed the program and it is running, open the map you want to load your mini map picture and loading screen picture in to (remember to make a backup of your map). The mini map: Choose “Minimap > “Open Image. The loading screen: Choose “Edit > “Change Loading Screen. This should pretty much do it… |

Hello To add a custom preview image to your map it must be .tga or .blp. Import the image (it must also be 128x128 or 256x256 pixles) to import manager in World Editor. Change its file path to War3MapPreview.tga/.blp Wallah custom preview image on the double. These tools will help you if your stuck on file converting and resizing image: Image Extractor II, W3M MAP UTILITIES and infranview :). If you dont have TFT then its abit more advanced for RoC editor as it has lesser features and is lesser powerful than the TFT one I suggest you buy it or follow this step. Download and run WinMPQ. Open up your map with WINMPQ and import the image (as I said about image type and size) Rename its path to the same as I said. CUSTOM LOADING SCREEN Go to tutorial section and there is a tutorial to help you in adding custom loading screens. They are quite hard to put in as there must be many precise things. They take alot of space too so think before you add one, also if your map is not that good to put a loading screen don't do it, it may not deserve one as its just unnecessary. Good Luck!! |

The blp* files will work… Otherwise they wouldn't matter! But it's a bit tougher to add them in the World Editor (explained by Sopho). Try to use the program I've linked to in my previous thread. In this program you can also use file types as jpg, tga, gif, psd, bmp and a lot more. The program will automatically convert the files to blp files, just make sure that your image is the right size. Good luck… *BLP File = Blizzard Picture File |

I don't now why it did that, but don't blame me for it. I've used the exact same link and downloaded the exact same program, and it works fine on my computer. I won't take the responsibility, and by the way, Sopho has explained how to use the World Editor to solve your problem. Try that, however, it's you who decide which program you want to use. I've just been trying to ease things for ya'. I'm very sorry about what happened, but as I've already said: It works fine on my computer… :saddened: Good luck, mate… |

.blp's don't work when importing them. The image file has to be saved in 24 bit, and 256x256. If you use warcraft3viewer to import a .blp file it will be converted to .tga (If you can get a .blp from .tga in the first place (You have to add an opaque alpha channel to the .tga but what's the point?). Anyway, 24 bit 256x256 .tga file will make you're custom mini map. |
