New map- Blade's Open RPG.

Here's a question, what do people think of this idea. I have made a very large open RPG, almost complete. For those of you who haven't played something like Silver's Open RPG, it works like this- Choose a hero, go out, kill creeps. You set the alliances with your fellow players, and determine whether you want to put your time into building a city or leveling your hero.

Mine is very close to Silver's open RPG, especially since I edited silver's a bit. I created the "remix" version which I have seen a few people playing, but it wasn't nearly like this is completeness.

This map is MUCH larger and more detailed. I tried to make all of the terrain look realistic. Unfortunatly, nothing is surrealistic like I have seen in a lot of maps, but the forests look like real forests, not one big clump of trees that you can't walk among.

The map has mostly default heros with 6 levels/ability, max level is 33.(the last 9 levels abilities have to be put into stat bonus because I am lazy and short on time right now. Eventually, maybe a full 33 levels of abilities.) The creeps range from level 1-34, with a 3 higher level bosses. There are also 2 AOS style battles taking place in the map that you can choose to join when you stumble across them.

There are a few quests and such, a VERY wide variety of terrain(mountains, swamps, deserts, plains and such), a tall tower of the magi(inspired by the white tower from WOT).

Since I am a programmer, my main thing is triggers and it has a lot of precise triggers. I.E. creeps respawn reliably, drop items randomly, factions hate and such. (60+ regions so far, well over 200 triggers and variables)

I got this idea from playing silver's RPG which I really liked except that it was small, incomplete, unbalanced, buggy, etc. All things I hope to solve with this.

Comments/Suggestions?

Ok the idea is really cool, and I like your current thoughts on it, but I have some stuff to add that I think would make it REALLY cool.

Don't just have one AOS style battle going on, have it so that the creeps are split into 3+ "races", which each have a main base. And as the course of the game goes on, the races change alliances (obviously all players get some sort of annoucement saying that the race has changed alliance, possibly after you get a certain type of building you get these annoucements) and as they change alliances, sometimes they have wars at certain places, that players can join in, etc.

and of course, introduce some fun things like the power to suddenly change sides and backstab an opponent, quests that involve getting very powerful items and things. And diplomacy! For example:

A player goes up to the northern part of the map, finds this cave, gets this super sword thing from it, suddenly 3 or 4 creep races send him "messages" asking him to ally with them and form an alliance. If the player accepst he gains "partial" control over those creeps, and can use them in his empire. But overusing them will cause them to rebel and attack back.

And of course you have to let players have a huge empire, that's always fun in an open RPG. Another thing you may want to introduce is cities that "build themselves", so that when a player loses control of a city, and creeps or something take it over, suddenlyw ehn you come back the city will be covered with a set of creep buildings of that race. This way you can have "interchangable" empires, so when the centaurs lose control of their main base, the mur'guls biuld a base over it. This way the playable map is constantly changing.

Also you may want to have built in "messages" so that periodically, the mur'guls just suddenly decide in the triggers that, screw the centaurs we hate them, and sicne you happen to be centaur, you get a message (real message, with voice) that says " YOU STUPID IDIOTS" or another time you get one "DOPES WHY DID YOU ATTACK ME" etc, with 3-4 messages for each possible situation.

Hope you like the comments, ill post more tommorow if you respond
