Greetings all, I made a demo-map of a system that allows 6learnable abilities on a hero, it's named in-game custom heroes 0.1. It also lets you choose which abilities you want to learn. I have tried to make everything look exactly like the way it is regularly done. It has a small guide written inside/comments: I thought some of you people might want to use this. Check out the attachment for the newest version of the thread. I still need to add some features, I'll work on them: - the hero abilities button needs to disappear after max level and 0 unspent skill point. - Hero abilities button needs to show the number of unspent skills left. - Channeling spells need not to stop when you enter the learn skill menu. In order to make the hero abilities button show the number of unspent skills I need a lot, 14 for this map, of hero abilities icons which each show another number (ranging from 1-14) of unspent skills, if anybody feels up to helping me with it, then go to http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...938#post459938. I've also still got 2 problems: - the hero icons that show up next to the left border of the screen do not show the number of unspent skill points. To make them show this, I need to add a hero ability to the hero, but if I do this, then the hero abilities button will appear, which will be in the way. Does anyone know how to remove the basic ability, 'hero abilities' ? - All of the basic icons (move, patrol, attack, etc...) still show up when I enter the hero abilities menu, does anybody know how to temporarily remove these? Or how to remove these while still being able to move and attack? Muchos thanks if any of you could answer any of these problems or help me with the icons.;) The next version of my map will arrive shortly. Regards, Remy. Ps: the newest version of the map is always attached in this post. |

I made those icons you asked for. The Hero skill button with numbers going from one to fourteen. I also included the default disabled version to use for them. The paths should be Active: ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTN(IconName) Disabled: ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTN(IconName) |

Hey hey. 6 skills? nice. However, without wanting to hijack this thread, I just wanted to let ya know that you can have up to 8 skills. I'll let you ponder a bit on how to do it. =X Cubasis |

Thanks shim!:D I didn't know you could skin? Could you link me to some work? Ow and.. Cubasis, you bastard!;) Could you tell me how to remove the patrol button? I know you can do it with we unlimited but that adds SO much extra code, I rather not use it. ByeBye, Remy. |

I'm just starting to skin, so my unit skins aren't that good, but I've been messing around with icons for awhile. I made an Undead Arthas on foot (not that that's really good) but I'll link you to it if you want: Arthas on Foot |

I have a spellbook system. I could give you the modifed version that allows you to choose from dialoges. |

BattleBot: Without meaning this as personal offense to you or not even having seen your system, I wouldn't, as Dialogs just sadly suck :/, they are first of all fairly ugly, they stop gameplay in-game, they're always on the same spot, in the way of teh action (in MP). And their Events are rather slow. So i personally would pick CommandConsole selecting or some other way (multiboards, shops, or anything) any day over Dialogs. However, that may be only my opinion. I just finished a new version of the ingame-customheroes map. Version 0.2. Check out the attachment in the first post for the newest version of the map. New features are: - You can have an extra ability (so 7) and can level up to level 17. - The hero abilities button now shows the number of unspent skills left (only works up till level 14 cause of lack of icons). - Custom icons now also work when pauzed (I think). - Hero abilities button disappears after reaching max level. If the customs icons still screw up when pauzing, plz tell me and explain to me what I did wrong? Have fun bitching around;) (whatever), Remy Edit: Another new version!: After recieving a new icon pack from Shimrra I updated the map once more. It's version 0.3 now. Check out the attachment on the first post for the newest version of the map. New features: - Hero abilities icon now shows the number of unspent skillpoints. - The leaderbord is now removed because of the first new feature. - That's all. Byebye now, Remy. |

Your work is superb! The only problem is the icons... Use these paths: ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTN(IconName).blp ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTN(IconName).blp And, if they are not already, make them .blp. |

I finished a new version, version 0.4, of in-game custom heroes, after working for about half an extra:( hour. It's attached in the first post as usual. New features are: - Icons now truly work! I even tested them!8)) - There now are unit spawnes at the edges of the map, to test out that Skillmaster of yours;) - Paladin replaced by a Blademaster, now called the skillmaster, this is to make the bladestorm animation show up. - You can now actually choose between skills, instead of just picking all of em: you get dialogs with 2 skills of which you must choose one until you have chosen 7skills. Problem is: I was too lazy to create another 7custom skills so you have to choose between the same skill most of the time. Have fun, ByeBye, Remy. |

Woops, incidentally I've been working on a similar project, but with a slighly different approach. Unfortunatly, your map seems to be protected. I would be nice if you'd share your piece of wisdom with the community... Over all, your map runs smooth, good work! Check out my work, maybe you'll find some interessting solutions. SOME OF THE FEATURES: - don't use dialog buttons at all. - equip the hero with spells of your choice. - upgrade them by spending, skill points. - build your hero's stat's of your own: buy/sell intelligence ,agility, strengh, attack speed and movement speed and lots more... - random weather effects - mount horses, birds and other animals to ride them - comments and instructions about how to deal with the triggers and function |
