Compression Error??

I am making a footman skin, which uses a smaller shield, so I tried to alpha out the unused part. In game it showed up all red, so I went back and re-did the alpha and made sure it was all black. I then saved it and tried to convert it to a BLP but I got a "Unsupported compression" error. Does anyone know what this is or how to fix?

I'm assuming you mean using viewer.

I've gotten this once or twice, it was usually because I had multiple layers that needed to be merged/flattened.

Could you explain how? I'm still new to skinning.

In photoshop, just push ctrl+shift+e. Or go to edit (might be under layers) merge or merge visible in a different program. That worked for me when I got that message.

Thank you! Also, pure black alpha makes things invisible, right? I keep trying to set part of the shield to be invisible, but it just shows up all red... I am putting in pure black, so what am I doing wrong?

That sounds like team color. Spots with tc can't be alphad. It sucks.:nono:

EDIT: Yeah, the footman has tc on the shield, just remembered that's the skin you're using. Sorry, you'll have to get a model edit to do that.

Yeah, unfortunately. You posted too fast, I was editing my other post to say just that...

What do I set the skin's path to so that it will show up?

It uses the same skin as footman and same path. Textures/Footman.blp

The model can go anywhere. If you want it in game And have TFT. Open up World Editor and then hit import and import it then open up object Editer find the footman then on the right scroll down and find something that says art - model then double click and then in the middle select the imported model.
