How to make transparent blp files?

I'm working on changing skins in the game interface and to make this work is easy enough. But if I'm changing anything in the blp files (as tga and converted again), a black field suddenly appears where a transparent “color were before I did anything.
I'm using WarCraft 3 Viewer and when I look at the blp files (in the mpq file), these are transparent too. So why aren't my images transparent? :bangH:

Thanks in advance

Hi, mate

And thanks… However, it still won't work… I've tried to do as you said (converted the tga files to 24 bit blp files), but there's no transparency at all… And when the files have been converted and I open it in WarCraft 3 Viewer, all that appears is a blank screen (the back ground color).

Please tell me more about the alpha channel (more specific, I'm n00b :hammer: )…

Thanks in advance
