Battle-worn warrior [wip]

It's the first time I've skinned a unit in a very long time... I know, everybody probably hates me now because I skinned Arthas. Anyway, it's 100% freehand (er, the parts I've done are).

I've completed everything above the belt besides the head. I've also finished the arms and redone his cape with no teamcolor. The wrapping across the chest is very stupid... urgh.

He's supposed to look like he's come out of a battle (hence the blood splatters and armor damage.

I know it looks terrible, but ... I didn't have a mouse... I had to do it with a laptop touchpad. Does that redeem it a bit?

Good, but you made one mistake, NEVER DRAW SHARP & STRAIGHT LINES ON ARTHAS CHEST.
They stretch and look weird & ugly.

It's very crisp and carefully done... just a shame War3 isn't like that.

I actually think the chest looks better all crooked.... he's battle-worn isnt he? It could use some dirt on it, and a lot more blood, its great though (especially the glove!)

Its alright. I'll give it 7.5/10. Not quite 8.:D

You know people could easily rip that?

Oh, I know people could get that... but I don't really care. If they want to steal it, then that's what they will do. I'm not really protective of my work because I just do it for fun, though while I'm not going to cry if somebody takes it, I would appreciate credit. In any case, why would they? It's not done! I'm probably going to release it for download when it's finished, so they can have it then. (also, I have the PSD, which they would not have)

Wow, thanks. I didn't expect even decent scores. Anyway, Jumbo Pie and Werewolf... could you explain why you gave it those scores?

I understand what you mean KuramaRoze... could you give me a few pointers for dirt and grime? It always comes out looking strange when I try it.

well, for dirt, grime, and bloodSTAINS (not drips, you do those well) you'll have to make/find some custom brushes, and define them in Photoshop. I'll post a brush-or-two later, since i dont even have my photoshop running yet. Also, when you draw it, backup your file, and draw it on 100% OVERLAY on the SAME layer (for some reason it comes out worse otherwise) with more sand-ish colors, and then add a bit of dirt to it. For the colors, it depends what you like (just google search and use the dropper to get color samples, and adjust as you will) :D

If this was incomprehensible, ask Sansui (he uses PSP, so if you use PS, it is awkward and confusing to adapt... best off getting a psp trial for it, lol) because he's definately the best at blood/dirt at this forum :D Remember, custom brushes :) (to make one, make the brush black with a transparent bkg, then go Edit->Define Brush in PS.)

Thanks, Kurama. I use photoshop, so I know what you're talking about.

Wow, you're too nice Metropolis. I have trouble believing that, because there are so many much more talented artists on this forum.

I was working briefly on changing that lion head at Arthas' belt. I changed it to... a dragon.
Here's the picture of the dragon by itself and how it looks on the model.

How does it look? I was having trouble making it look like a carved object... any tips?
