I think everybody has at least heard about the pre-beta days of the Tauren, when he used a chainball as his weapon, instead of that tree-log thing. Well, I noticed something (maybe somebody else noticed it first, but I never saw anything about it). Have you ever noticed how the Tauren model ressembles that of the Gnoll? Have you ever noticed the Gnoll uses a chainball as his weapon???:ggani: (The strange thing is that I noticed it while browsing trough the game skins, not the models... The Tauren's skin is almost the same as the Gnoll's one). Well, here's what I thought: what if we bring the Tauren to his pre-beta days? I could do it myself, but my computer is my brother's, and he wouldn't let me install 3DSMax. Maybe someone could merge their models somehow, making the Tauren use the chainball? Maybe the easiest way to do it is through .mdl editing, and that I know how to do, but I think a new model would be much better, though I don't know if it could be accomplished. If so, if anyone would make a Tauren without the log and a bodyless Gnoll (just the chainball) I could merge them myself! I could even transfer animations from the Gnoll model to the Tauren, since I'm trying to learn that now! So, what do you people think? Remember, if it is possible to make a new model, it would be A LOT better! PS:Moderators, maybe this should be in the request session, but I don't think so, since I'm pretty much just telling a "discovery" here, but if you think it should be there, plz, feel free to move it!:D |

Isnt it possible to remove the chainball from gnoll and add to tauren via text editing? btw Im working on a very very high detail Tauren atm. |

Hmmm... Maybe if I could transfer the respective bone to the Tauren... Good idea, never thought about it! :D :D :D :D I'll try to learn how to do that, since I've only read about it. Anyone knows of a good tutorial? I know there are some here, but I can't seem to understand exactly how to do it. Anyways, I'll try to understand nevertheless and make some tests, though it will take a while, since I have classes tomorrow!:ggani: Btw, can't wait to see your work:D |

Funny I asked for this same thing about 4 weeks ago, except just geo merging the tauren head onto the gnoll and changing the skin would be all thats needed really |

Hmmm... I think it may lead to the same results, but the gnoll's model is still a little different from the tauren's, so I think that the weapon transfer would be a little better, with the same amount of work... |

here is a reference pic, notice how everything is scaled the building is proportional to the units to bad blizz couldnt leave it that way. |

Yeah, it would have been great... O well... Btw, I noticed that the gnoll's chainball is not exactly like the old tauren's one... Wtv, I'll do it anyway...:D Oh, one thing, is that flying unit the old Far Seer? |

AHH!! Finally someone who agrees with me. If I ever make a mod/campaign/map, everything will be proportional. I wish more stuff could have been kept from alpha. They should have released 2 games. Warcraft III (present game) and Warcraft Tactics (alpha warcraft III). All that work....wasted..... |

Indeed, they're two completely different kinds of games... It would be great if a new(old) game was released, featuring alpha... Can't believe all that great work was just thrown away... |

Mhh, I compared the gnoll and the tauren and they look way different regarding the wrapping and texture how did you ever came to a conclusion that they are somewhat similar? |

OMG, COOKIE POSTING IN MY FORUM??? Hahahaha, I'm honored! Well, I looked at their skin, and you know that Blizzard sometimes only recolor other skins... Well, their layout are pretty much the same (as well with Doom Guard, the Pig, etc.). And then I looked at their models and thought that there is some ressemblance in them... |

I'm gonna try yo make this. Are there any better SS? I never seen anything from alpha of RoC or TFT. I started skinning or moddeling after TFT. I need SS I have never seen alpha. I might Make more alpha models. |
