Hey, i'm new at the whole "coloring pictures with the computer" thing so.. i was just wondering if it was possible to color in behind the lineart of a scanned image. I already looked at PolyKarbon Comic's Tut., but all the does for me is let me use the polygon lasso to color it.
Is there a way to color in a scanned image with the paintbrush underneath the lineart?

Ahh..

well... find the Layers tab... and create a new layer under the line art and Color in that layer.

I'm not really understanding your problem... but that is what I'm getting from what you said.

you could also udjust the brush opacity but that is just more of a pain in the ass thing.

so layering is easier.

Set lineart to top layer, and to "multiply". That allows everything underneath to show through the white... I suggest to sticking with Photoshop, as it is simpler than Painter....

u could do that.. but i prefer to just have the single lines alone and have a transparent background.

1. go to alpha channels
2. copy the cleanest alpha channel
3. click the newly copied alpha channel
4. press ctr+I .. it will invert everything.
5. once everything is inverted, hold ctr, and click on the inverted channel. this will select everything on the channel.
6. Go to the layer channel, and click the new channel button.
7. select black paint bucket, and click anywhere on the new page... and TTAADAAAAA.. pure lines on a transparent background.

but do aurens method.. w/e..... i guess i just like to be difficult. but either way, its still the same thing. you create layers under your line art, and color.

That works too, prolly best to do that if your lineart is not very clean...
