Question - Wtf is Wartego?
Answer - Stratego and a lot more!

Question - Wtf is Stratego?
Answer - A turn-based strategy game that can only be described as blind chess on steroids!

Question - Why the hell has it taken so long to make?
Answer - Well, three months, one guy. (Lots of advice and help, but it still takes time!)

Question - Ok, can you tell me a little about it?
Answer - Unique things: Eleven different terrains on one map. One hundred Squares. Three different rules sets: Stratego, Naval, and Samurai.

Question - Ok, but whats the goal?
Answer - To capture the enemie's flag by outsmarting your opponent.

Question - Ok, sounds cool, different, and something I want... where do I get it?
Answer - Right Here

this map rocks, I've never played Stratego before but when I played with Rod (he beat me of course) I finally got a glimpse at this great game, and his Wartego is a lot more than just a stratego board. It let's you play with different rulesets and lots of custom rules, has a starting layout saving option for your own Layouts and tactics and the terrain is beautifully done (with some custom modely too :)
If you like chess or stratego and didn't download this already then do so now!

I played it last night and I think I can answer that. The production values are sky-high. The code is solid as a rock, and completely bug and glitch free. There's a complex user interface, full of easily acessable information, and the terrain that comprises the "boards" is beautifully crafted. Even if board games aren't normally your thing, it would profit most people to check this out as an example of a polished map that's fun to play.

awsome map ROD, but you didnt put in the "tournament" rule set that the boardgame has. in other words, rules like: scout can move as many spaces as you want (it is a scout after all that is their only use). and also if a player reaches the back row of the enemy, he captures back the piece of his coice.

besides that it is perfect, although the loading code is very complicated.

Hehe well I am having a contest for new features and bug finds... Please go to the Wartego forums and post new ideas, terrains and bug finds there.

Im glad you all seem to like it.

Dark Alucard I have one of your two rules already implemented. Scouts can move as many as they want already, its just they cant ATTACK from as many as you want, HOWEVER if you are hosting BEFORE either player hits READY TO START hit the "ESC" key and pick Scout's Strike. This will allow the scout to attack from up to 9 squares away.

Your other suggestion I remember as an option but just didnt have time to add. If I get enough interest I will definately add it. However I can see that adding more time to an already sometimes long game hehe.

Thanks for the comments and please post any change requests etc on the wartego forum itself.

150 dls so far wahoo!

I can't host games :<

No one hosts this game... but I truly want to play.

So if you want to play right now, tell me and make a channel.

Hehe well it was just released last night at 10:00 so.. I would suggest you go to the Wartego forum and post a challenge. That way you could setup a time and place to play ahead of time!

Personally, I'm a fan of Stratego (though I'm more of a Go player). I'll host a game or two when I get off work (btw cable connection). It'll be on uswest.battle.net, gn Stratego WC3-style, probably about 9ct,8mt,7pt.

How about any project that releases a demo, or finished project gets maybe custom avatars, or a point reward. It might make for a motivational tool
