Can't use mdx-files

I've downloaded a skin, and it's a .mdx file. But when I try to inport into the WE it changes pasth to .mdl and not .mdx. So my model doesn't load. Help!

you know, i would love a very quick discription of how to do this correctly myself, any one of you "l33t" dudes wanna help us out?
