Show me your website designs. =) I am totally an ameteur as far as mainstream, design-based graphics go, but I do have fun with the more graphical/rendered layouts. =D Here are some I did for my Shadowbane guild, Ias Kiran a'Llyra: Oldest version: http://www.u.arizona.edu/~hramsdel/site1.jpg Unused template for 2nd version: http://www.u.arizona.edu/~hramsdel/site2a.jpg Used template for 2nd version: http://www.u.arizona.edu/~hramsdel/site2b.jpg Beginnings of 3rd template: http://www.u.arizona.edu/~hramsdel/site3.jpg The music note under all of the links in the 2nd version was the on/off toggle for the playlist (custom picked by my fiance, best friend, and I). They also had mouseovers and other graphics throughout the site, and my fiance custom coded the site and the message board (super customizable, anyone?); we were a great team. Good fun. |

They look good. Orginal Graphics are always better in my opinion. They make the site unquie and creative :) |

candy, making a website isn't just using art and all that fancy stuff. you also need to learn HTML to make it work and probably PHP for the fancier stuff. now i'm learning flash. :) |

That's what my fiance (who lives with me) is for. ;P He's the best html/javascript/perl/dhtml person I know personally, and he does most of it creatively. He can figure pretty much anything out if he has the time; it's so helpful, and impressive. Too bad we don't have a fully-functional site up anymore. =\ Nice sites, guys. =) DarkOne's is an example of the more "mainstream, design-based" layouts that are popular with businesses. I can't do that stuff (extremely simple, geometric shapes, subtle colours, usually lots of white but sometimes they can be dark-themed as well). Maybe after I take some classes in it. =\ Wot I do is more a rendering, graphical style, and could still be improved vastly. While making websites is fun, it takes massive amounts of time. That's why I'm not offering to help a bit with the WC3C themes - I don't have the free time right now. >.< Otherwise, it would be good experience. Hope some of you will help make custom themes. The more, the better. |

having trouble spelling designs erwt? anyways, those are good jac, did you resize those? cuz they look kinda small |
| 03-06-2004, 10:37 PM | #13 |
Heh, thanks. Those are actual size, because we had to make the site compatible with both IE and Netscape, and people who used 800x600 resolution. Whatever tricks we might have used to adjust the size according to the viewer's resolution pretty much didn't work with both browsers. The first is actually much taller/wider, and fades out gradually at the bottom and right, but I cropped it to post it. For the second with the mauve-ish stone, I made a segment probably 3 inches wide that repeated seamlessly so that people with massive resolutions wouldn't see it cut off. The 3rd one I was working on but never finished was meant to be centered in the browser, but still small enough for 800x600 viewers without scrolling. |
