New Campaign: Return to Draenor

I've been thinking a lot about a mod idea, and I think I have finally come up with something which is quite good. It occurs parallel to the Warcraft 3 plot, and (hopefully) should not be nullified by the expansion at all.

Premise: A magically maintained chunk of Draenor is one of the main staging points for the daemonic invasion. Within a great citadel, they utilize terrible sorceries to create more daemons and undead. They then travel to Azeroth using the few remaining waygates. You must gather an army, defeat the demons in what is left of your homeworld, and finally destroy it. You command a young, idealistic orcish axe fighter who was left behind when Thrall left for Kalimdor. A mercenary army led by a half-elven rogue also joins in your quest. Your main enemy will be a Dreadlord named Anetheron, seen in the "the dreadlords convene" interlude. He was the one with the orb of lightning.

I have put so much thought and work into making this campaign compatible with the original story that it hurts. How will your orcs get their hands on the standard Kalimdorian orc units, if they never travel there, you ask? Silly young man, the units are replaced by close parallels, these native to either Draenor or Azeroth, where the story takes place. And of course, missions are planned for the acquisition of these units.

I have also designed and successfully implanted the skins of the two heroes. You can find the orc, Segrim flintaxe, in the gallery sub-forum of the modelling and skinning forum. I am a skilled visual designer and story/script writer. I hope to be in charge of these tasks if I am able to get a team together. Sadly, I know only the most basic things about trigger and sound editing

Anybody interested in one or both of these tasks, please respond! If you want bios of the characters to get a better feel for the story, i've got 'em.

not to completely disregard yourcampaign or anyting sounds good but dreanor was completly eradcated by am apocalypsic explosion, it ripped itself outa the unviverse so yea problems with the pllanet your chosing, but maybe through a demon gate or something could work

the way it still exists is that a bunch of warlocks and demons put up a forcefield around one chunk of it. At the final mission when you destroy the magic sources or kill the warlocks or whatever, it will collapse.

I plan to be doing terrain, as well as the other visual aspects of the game. What i really need right now is a trigger guru.

force fields didn't exist in warcraft, infact they dont even exist yet, number one, number two the demons were not present during the time of the apocalypse and number three ok suppose the demons where there, Turalyon Danath Kahdgar and their trrops were still there duh so they woulda fought not to bash but u got a lot of stuff to work out there

This is a little bit ridiculous. Nobody is going to ask that much about the hunk of Draenor in the first place.

I can take whatever liberties I want with the spells that exist. Blizzard and every other campaign maker or modder certainly has. Was there any explanation for the final spell that killed Archimonde? "Uh, yeah, the spirits of our ancestors...um...we gave up our immortality to...uh...kill him...or banish him...or something..."

If you want to go as far as this, It's easy to make up explanations. I can do it all day long:

The daemons' influence was what made the Orcs as bloodthirsty as they were in the first place. This is directly from the existing fluff. Who's to say they didn't step in to help preserve a staging point for future invasion? And, as long as they did this, they might as well have used their daemonic powers to kill any of the humans left alive on the hunk of Draenor. And hey! Even if they didn't, don't you think that a couple human heroes trapped in a land of daemons and undead is a nice premise for another campaign or mission?

I win. And if you want to keep dissing my project, this isn't the place. I'm looking for people who want to sign up.

i'm not rtying to bash i'm just trying to make sure that I know how this thing all gets started and junk, minor notes for errors that might need a bit of adjusting; there would be a whole lot more portals around the dark portal so you'd have to think of explanations why people didn't run through them; ALSO i can understand why the deamons would be there; one of the portals linked directly with thte twisting nether so you make it so they came through that portal, I am doing a campaign with Korgath bladefist and i dont want these things to cotradict eachoterh alot. the dark portal would still be in the human world and would they notice that stuff from the castle there if the portal wasn't destroyed as Turalyon had fought to make it happen; also grom and Krillogg left through the portal "hacking their way through the human ranks" so maybe you should do a nice cinematic of all this stuff that happened; the nethreziem comming through it; and u could fight the nice humans that got strranded and are now resistance fighters; as i said i'm not trying to bash your campaign here i want this thing to be true to what blizzard has put out there, minor note i would like to help in some way with this looks like a very good project; just not all the way thought out yet i'm doing as i like to see it constructive critisism something i wish would happen in the forum for my campaign i'm getting stupid remarks about how theres a guy on here named Korgath so i nedd to change the haractors name........idiots..........

Sorry about being rude. I'd like to hear your campaign story, so that we could make them fit together. I guess I was assuming that a lot of these things wouldn't need explanations just because Azeroth and Lordaeron got overrun by demons and undead while everyone was over in Kalimdor, so they could do basically whatever they wanted with the portal.

Are you good with triggers? As you're the only person who's really responded to this post, and we've already had our first fight, hehe, maybe we could team up.

hey, i'd really like to team up. Maybe we could do a combined thing where we create both of these and tie them together. But in mine the portal through to azeroth got destroyed and thats how korgath actually got there. But maybe they created another portal that linked through in the same spot using the agical hoverings around where the rift once was. Anyways you can read my story beginings in the forum right under this one. lol. yea this would work out to be a great combined effort on our parts. i think that we could make some really good campaigns. My only problem with triggers is cinematics. I did some very simple edits to skins but i think that i could really get down and dirty with burn and retouch. I think this could be a really good campaigns(s). Lets hear more of your story, and you do have the full version of the manual with all 100 someodd pages right. If not i got one that can be sent via internet asap. Peace.

Alrighty! I read your story, and it sounds really cool. I'm perty darn good at skinning, and i have a skin posted in the gallery mini-forum of modelling and skinning. It's called Segrim FLintaxe, but it's on like pg. 2 by now. I'm generally good in the creative department, visual character and map design, and script-writing. My problem is that I know hardly anything about the trigger-making aspect of worldedit. If you're good, i think we would make a great team.

I'm just going to post my story and everything that I've written for the campaign so far, and hope nobody steals it.

************

Premise: A magically maintained chunk of Draenor is one of the main staging points for the daemonic invasion. Within a great citadel, they utilize terrible sorceries to create more demons and undead. They then travel to Azeroth using the few remaining waygates.

Ultimate Goal: Destroy what is left of the red world, and any daemons and undead still on it.

Segrim Flintaxe: Born in an internment camp in Durnholde, Segrim suffered from the same racial lethargy that had afflicted the rest of his people in captivity. His life was meaningless, and he waited patiently to die. However, when he was twenty years old, he saw something that gave him a new pride and will to live. Thrall and his renegade horde broke down the gates of the internment camp and freed every orc held inside. Segrim joined the young warchief, who was only a few years his senior, and began to learn the ancient arts of the blademasters. He took up an axe of stone, its blade formed in the impact of a meteor and imbued with unearthly strength and keenness.
Segrim became one of Thrall’s most trusted lieutenants before the Horde’s exodus to Kalimdor. He led a small but elite force of warriors on countless raids against orc internment camps in Lordaeron, and gained enormous respect throughout the horde as a master of sudden and devastating assaults. Segrim was on one such raid when Grom Hellscream was freed, and Thrall was unable to send word before sailing to Kalimdor when the opportunity arose.
Segrim is unhappy at being left behind, but his great respect for Thrall keeps him from being bitter. He is one of the only orc chieftains in Lordaeron still loyal to the horde, except for Krill Bloodsong. However, they pursue different agendas and Segrim has been unable to contact the renegade blademaster for some time.

Kirana Blackwold: A half-elf rogue, Kirana Blackwold was despised her whole life by both elves and humans as a mongrel. This led her to spend as much time away from civilization as possible. She was a frequent patron of some of the shadier inns on the outskirts of the human lands, and was always on the lookout for lucrative job opportunities, preferably involving one of her arrows and some marked target’s throat.
In an effort to increase her wealth, Kirana used her reputation and silver tongue to command a small company of mercenaries: Blackwold’s Breakers. Usually employed in the quelling of small rebellions or warlords, they were increasingly hired by the governments of Lordaeron to deal with escaped orc forces. The Breakers were one of the only forces to have any success in this endeavor, and were responsible for capturing the infamous Grom Hellscream. Of course, he escaped as soon as he was left in the bungling hands of the government.
With the flight of the orcs, Kirana feels a sense of foreboding. She doesn’t know what they were fleeing, but she has developed a great respect for their fighting prowess and knows that any foe that would drive them across the sea is terrible indeed. This coupled with the rumors of a plague in the north causes her to worry for the fate of Lordaeron.

Anetheron: This dreadlord commands the citadel on Draenor and oversees the operations carried on within. He is one of the three favored dreadlord lieutenants of Archimonde, and his experiments within the citadel have yielded many terrible demons and beasts of war. He is quite jealous of Tichondrius’ powers and has plans to use some of the transforming sorceries on himself, becoming far more powerful than any of the other dreadlords.

Mission 1: The Freeing of the Horde:
Enter the human fortress with the internment camp at its center. When enemy reinforcements arrive, escape with at least 5 prisoners.

Mission 2: Troll runner reports that Thrall has left Azeroth. Segrim is unhappy, but say’s that they must continue to free their brethren from human imprisonment. Go to a troll village which is about to be attacked by humans. Defend it from the attacks and destroy the human base. Witchdoctors tell you about a magical cave in which rock golems spontaneously form out of rock due to some strange crystal in the center of the cavern.

Mission 3: Enter the cavern with small party and fight through many baddies to get to the rock. Standard dungeon-style level. Find a conclave of the cult of the damned, kill them. Dying words: Undeath shall consume you all!!! Or something. After this mission, you can produce rock golems (tauren parallels) from your lumber mill.

Mission 4: As you dick around in Lordaeron looking for more orcs to free, you find an internment camp which has been overrun by the undead. Kirana and her mercenaries in another base are also fighting the undead. You come upon a battle and join. Some trigger makes all units invincible and they keep fighting, but you and Kirana form an alliance in the heat of battle. Her forces become computer allies. After you’ve beaten undead, meet in your base and discuss deeds of long ago. Have a good laugh at how she captured Hellscream, but he got freed as soon as her forces left. Develop mutual respect, basically. Agree that the humans and the orcs need to ally against the undead, and decide that while she attempts to warn the Lordaeron Government about the threat, Segrim will head north to combat the undead as best he can.

Interlude: Kirana is ambushed by undead and her forces are captured. Instead of being killed, they are marched to a demon gate in southern Azeroth. They go through, and see a red landscape. Necromancer says something like: “Welcome to Draenor.”

I haven't planned much further than this, but I think Kirana will learn that the demons are planning their invasion from Draenor. She will escape, and run North to warn Segrim about it. They both will fight their way back to the portal together, since the invasion has now already started. They'll get to Draenor, destroy the prison camp, have another dungeon style level as they go through the demon citadel, and finally have to kill the demons who are maintaining the forcefield. An awsome cinematic will happen where the world gets destroyed, and everyone will die. Maybe our heroes will escape.

The destruction of draenor will not completely halt the demon invasion, but hamper it severely in our story, just in case Blizzzard wants to include the demons in the expansion.

sounds good:D really thought out and stuff and it stays away from infringeing on my campaign good job:ggani: I would really like to help on this map. Just tell me what all i need to do, i can do anything but cinematics, model, or UVW map, or skin well. I can do just about anything other than that, if i run into a problem i'll consult with you before coming up with possible solutions to it. So when do we get started???

Do we want a website for this, if so i can get one nice n easy. Just tell me i'll do it and make sure that it gets and stays hosted.

Alright, we've got a triggerer (you), and a visual and plot designer (me). Now we need somebody to do cinematics. When we find one, you two will need to collaborate closely to make sure the trigs work.

We won't need modelers or UVW mappers, because I don't think we need any new models. Any new special units will just be reskins.

Later on, we'll need voice actors and a sound person, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Right now, I'm going to start designing maps and sending the to you.

Do you think you could give me your email address?

ya know what i'm really sorry about all the seemingly bashing stuff i was doing, though it did help i think:D but i went and beat the game with the humans for the expansion set beyond the dark portal, hey guess what my campaign is actually conclusive with it. It was the Shattered Hand Clan who was gaurding the Portal in the last level, and here i didn't even remeber that. Anyways even blizzards stories are inconclusive, example how Grom and Krilogg got back to azeroth was by hacking through the humans forces, and they didn't even show it in the ending cinematic, here i'm waitng for it, waiting for it, waiting, WHAT the portal just got destroyed?!?!?!?! so even if yours are a bit inconclusive i'll be leineint cuz blizzard is inconclusive. Geez from these macho developers they add stuff in after the ending cinematic, stuff that happened then. I cant beleive it.

Yea i'll be super glad to help you in any way i can. Just email me the maps as soon as you start kicken 'em out and along with the map could you also send me what stuff u want done in the triggers so that i dont gave to come ask you after i've gotten the map. That would really help.
