Ok, I tried to make a custom spell which is similar to blizzard, except uses fire and other different effects instead of the ice and stuff. When I use the skill in-game, it still uses the original blizzard effects. Any idea what the hell is wrong? :( |

Yes, I know exactly what is wrong. ;) First thing... why not just use Rain of Fire? It sounds like what you're trying to turn your custom Blizzard into... Second, if you can't use Rain of Fire, follow these steps to fix your problem (the problem is that several spells in the World Editor do not recognize custom buffs, some examples of this are: Blizzard, Starfall, Doom, ect): 1) Go into the Buff Editor. 2) Make custom buffs/effects based off of the ones Blizzard uses. 3) Edit the REGULAR (the default buffs/effects) buffs/effects to use the spell-effects that you want. 4) Now, go back into the Spell Editor, give the default Blizzard spell the newly created copies of the default buffs/effects, and give your custom Blizzard spell the default buffs/effects. Do this for any spell that does not read it's custom buffs/effects. |

Well, I know I could just use rain of fire, but I did edit the buffs/effects like you said before and that was my problem. Blizzard simply didn't take my edits into account, unless it has anything to do with me changing the name of the buffs and effects? All I know is that it work with the other abilities I made, and not this one (e.g my edit of death and decay worked perfectly). I might as well just go edit rain of fire instead, but this is gonna bug me all week if I don't know why it isn't working :\ |

(This is Zethiros) So what I told you to do didn't work? |

Nope, didn't work. And I also tried Rain of Fire with the custom effects and buffs, and it also kept the same effects. There's something about those spells... >:( |

You've allmost got it. You have to edit the rain of fire EFFECT by ONLY changing the art-target at the top of the page. change this to something that falls (ie. monsoon, sheep-fall ect.) and you'll have your new spell when you set the effect for it to rain of fire. You can edit the buff to change the tooltip that shows when a unit is hit, but both buff and effect (in the custom spell) must be Rain Of Fire. Hope this helps. (P.S. you won't be able to use the normal rain of fire spell in your map because it will look like your custom buff!) |

The whole thing is based off of abilities not reading CUSTOM buffs, but the original ones they read; so you have to make custom, unchanged buffs for the actual spell then edit the originals for the custom spell... At least that's what I did for Starfall and Doom. ;) It should work for Blizzard, since it sounds exactly like the problem I had with Starfall and Doom. |

Aha... Now I see. So I just edit the original Buffs and Effects without changing name? What about tooltips though, I don't want it to read "This unit is under Blizzard" or something when I have something like hellfire. Am I able to change these or is it just the effect models I can change? (By the way the map I've been using these custom spells in is coming along really well, and I may post it in Map in Developement soon ;) ) |
