If I were to make some actual tutorials on my process of skinning would you guys read or care about it? I'll try to cover all areas of skinning a unit. It will not did with technicle stuff just the artistic part. If the polls are positive I will create some tutorials.

i've made several tutorials of the kind, but noone seems to really care about tuts (well that might be since almost noone who posts in skins actually skins, most of them tend to rudely comment without showing any work themselves..) and they tend to be a waste of my time because noone reads them. Maybe people will read yours though, since you're a mod and a damn good skinner.. I know I would, its always good to pick up tricks.. So, i'm neutral, but leaning towards seeing them :D

I would love to have some artistic tutorials, I'm just started skining for an AoS style map that I'm making, and I am finding some of the arty side of it quite hard, because skins are nothing like real-life models.

Where there is a will, there is a way.

If people want tutorials, they will find them. We have quite a lot in the tutorials section. I only make tutorials when someone asks for help or how I did something.

Ive read a shitload of skinning tutorials, not only are they a good way to develop your own skills, it looks like you will now get points for submitting tutorials. If that's the case, then why the hell not, it helps the community and you get a nice little bonus!

That gives me 0 motivation. I earned 10,000 points. I gave 6,000 away, the rest were robbed from me, and now I have 5, and you expect me to write tutorials to get more?

Well, as long as you include that in PSP7, you have to save the edited alpha channel, and delete the original one in order for the alpha-ing to work, id gladly accept the privelage to use a tut you made =D ur a great skinner and id love to see some in-depth tuts from a guy like you about how to make muscles, do armor, metalic effects, etc. especially in PSP7 =D so yea, id like to see a tut (or a few if you go really in depth) from you =D

*btw how many brown-nose points do i get? ^_^

I really like that tutorial. Thats what all of them should be! Lot of pictures (they are worth of thousand words indeed), and couple of easytounderstand sentences!

whitehorn i did see those, but the texture one especially is a problem... psp7 doesnt have a burn+dodge as far as i know... the Chainmail i at first dismissed cuz i thought u meant that you make the texture then copy it over... now im thinking you meant FIND a chainmail texture to use... am i right? also, the metal one uses dodge... and using PSP7 i cant do Burn, Dodge, or any of that. If someone could make some PSP7 tuts with picture-instructions as well done as yours, with maybe some tips inbetween (sentence form) then i would really appreciate it. but otherwise, almost al the tuts ive read arent for PSP7.... so that poses a problem for me

Ok, so I guess the whole "help the community" or "develop your own skills" doesn't appeal to you. Why did you write the other ones? Did you expect to be heavily rewarded for them?

ahh, yes, and I'm pretty sure you didnt make the thread, so I wasn't even talking to you. You know why people are made moderators? Because they are usually the ones that can help people the most. Do you really need payment for helping people?

Did you not read the 'Gave 6,000 away' part of my post Sturm? I did all my requests for free. I never asked any points off anyone.

Mech. I used 'Darken' not burn. If PSP7 doesn't have darken, then you are either using Notepad or you need a new program.

I made the chainmail texture, and reuse it.

well, whitehorn's tuts are good for advanced skinners, but to help the newbies, you should really do a paragraph per step :-P (then again, there are more than enough newbie tuts out there...)

As for my links, yes, my host crashed, and is not returning. Mock1 said that he'd host them once his site is back up. I'll start writing another, since I sort of didnt explain enough about the basics anyways :-P

tuts are great to pass tricks around though!
