Guest | Is it possible? Whats this crap about not enoguh cells? I really need something larger than 192x192... |

One of the editors allows that but the only problem is you cannot change map properties once you create the maps (because if you open the menu then it won't let you save changes until you size it down :P) I think the editor even lets you get 512x512 but that's just insane and I also heard that it would take forever to load the map once your playing? |

Guest | Cmon people, this is serious and I really need an answer soon. Can I open my map in some other editor and resize it in it? |

It IS possible to change the map properties for large maps. Assuming that you know how to make maps bigger than 192x192; I think the easiest way to do it is opening the map in Zepir's map editor and changing the stuff there. It doesn't support loading screen thing yet though. To find it, go to the download sectin of W3 Campaings. |

How could anyone be in need of a 512x512 map!? That is absolutely huge. I couldn't even come close to filling the entire map unless i did a campaign!! :D 256x256 would be nice though... |

480x480 is the limit last I checked 512x512 should be the theoritic limit but it doesn't work so just deal with 480 x 480... |

A 512x512 is really big :P It would take a long time to download and load it probably but I guess it's nice if you want to make a REALLY BIG rpg that you can play on battle.net without using caches :D |

480x480 is as far as you can go. Me and cookie tried it... loading took pretty long though the map was almost empty and blight didn't work... There was blight, but UD couldn't built on it. I happened to be UD, so cookie could just walk over me as I couldn't even build a crypt, but I just went walking around the map with lots of acolytes building necropolises everywhere playing hide and seek with his huntresses. He left, because it's practically impossible to find every single unit on such a big map, even when there's hardly any trees and no different height levels. :D |

I just need to get to 256x256, will it work without bugs? |
| 10-13-2002, 03:28 AM | #12 |
It could possibly cause bugs but if it's a special map you may not even need to use blight so it might not be a problem. If your trying to make a melee map then undead are screwed I guess but melee maps don't really need to be that big usually... Maybe there was another cause to the blight problem? I don't know anything about this but I guess you should just try it out :hm: |

Guest | On my 480x480, a knight placed in the top left and told to move to the bottom right (about 679 total distance) takes a little over 4 minutes on Fast map setting. Heh heh. Remember, that's a knight with move speed 350. Just thought I'd add something. Care. |
