At the moment i am experimenting with unit modifications where i use an ability model as a unit.. ie. Tome of retraining. The problem is, i cant think of a way to make the animation for the tome of retraining loop.. after it displays once, the unit appears to be invisible. Could someone please tell or teach me how i might be able to make the animation loop? Thx in advance.. sPyRaLz.. =/ PS:.. If no one knows how.. it would be nice if someone could recommend a better idea that will allow animation loops on a specifically focused unit on the map. |

If you've done mdl-editing before, or are willing to try, the problem is pretty simple. In the animation for many effects is a line marked "NonLooping," which needs to be deleted. If that's done, and the model has no "named" animations (or only a stand animation) then it will repeatedly loop through taht one animation. |

Take heart - this particular change is extremely easy - you'd literally have to delete one line in the mdl file, save and convert. It's, in fact, a good way to get your feet wet on the whole concept of mdl editing. |

Just wondering if you might be able to tell me where i can find a good program that can open and edit mdl files. The animation/ modelling program im trying at the moment is anim8tor.. apparently it cant open mdl files and i cant seem to find any programs that will convert the actual mdl fle so it can be opened with this program. Ive heard of the one called 3ds max.. will that allow me to edit the script in the mdl file? |

For something this simple, if you have no intention of any serious model editing in the future, I recommend yobguil's mdx <---> mdl converter, which will convert the mdx files found in the mqp into mdl files, which are text files that are best edited with notepad or something similar. A trip to the search page can probably find the thread that has the converter, as well as answers to most issues associated with using it (for most people, it usually takes some tweaking to get it working properly). |
