Skins are nice and easy, ususaly they come with a path, that is either on the screen where you download, or in a r4eadme file in the download its self. you must have frozen throne to do this, op[en up world editor, then open the import manager, its the button thats a white rectange with a green arow, then click the import button in this window and selct the file you want to use, (skin or model) then double click on the path (it will be the bit that says war3imported..blah blah blah) the click the box for custom path, then puit the correct path in, (usualy from the readme), you wont be able to see the skin yet, worle editopr has a bug that means you have to save , close then reopen the map to see the changed skin If youre not told the coorect path, you need to work out what modle the skin goes on, when youve done that (by sight) open the object editor, ( the helmet button) and find the correct unit under the units tab, double click on the Art-model part, and the second box down haas the path of that model, then coppy that path, then put it in the custom path bit in import manager, dont forget to add .blp at the end or it wont work importing modles is exactly the same at firt, import the model (and the skin if its seprrate (model files are .mdx or .mdl, skins are .blp) you dont need to change the path of the model, but you do need to change the path of the skin, this should be in the read me. |

I cant get skins to work either. I did all those and it doesn't work. I could get them to work with custom models but the skins just don't do anything to normal ones. (I can get the ones too work that come with both .mdl/.mdx and .blp's in them.) I imported the .blp and put the correct path. Then I went into object editor and made a new unit based on the model. Like if i was importing a skin for a man I would choose the man for my base unit so he has the man model(which I know I can change.) So alls well and I restart war3 editor and put the unit ingame (after saving). But the unit hasn't even changed it just looks normal. |

You change the pathing in the object manager when just importing a skin but not importing a model? if this is the case you dont need to do that, an example; say you wanted to upload the skin goonish goon into your game, the skin clearly belongs on the blademaster model. so you go to the object editor, open the box lable Art-model (or something like that) the highlight the path (second box down) copy it (ctrl+v), then open the import manager, import the file goonish goon from where ever you downloaded it, and double click on it on the import list, clickt he little box for custom path, then paste the path you copied, you dont need to change anything in the object editor (unless you wish another unit to have the imorted skin (and the model it fits)). i hope this solves youre problems, however if this is what you were already doing you could have a problem such as a corupt file, but if that were the case i would have thought you would have got a large checker black and green box where your unit is, so perhaps you just have a slightly screwed disk. |

I tried that except I put the path it told me too. How do I copy the path when it only says the name in the second box. And isnt copy ctrl+c? |

ok, i screwed up twice, whoops, its is controll c and i could have cause quite a few problem for someone who didnt know i was wron, thank for poitning that out, and secondly, i was wrong about the second box, thats the unit name, yes. the last box is the one with the path directory in it, this is what the pathing is if you open up the war3x.mpq with an mpq extractor, however if youre using the path the creator gave you, my only guess is that its wrong somehwere, check for obviouse misspellings or a forward slash where ther should be a back slash that kind of thing |

I tried making a different map and a different skin but it still didn't work. It should work! I import it and change the path to the unit and select the unit and place it on the map and its still the same!! I'm getting frustrated now. |

the only possable thing i can think of is you forgot to add the .blp on the end so it know its a skin, if thats not it, try asking in the skinners forum, they knwo all the realy detailed ins and outs skins |
