It's a shame. In my opinion, the only present WC3 projects that have good storylines are the cinematics. There's a lot of good campaigns out there, no question. They're crammed with new skins, fancy spells, etc. However, in my opinion they usually just seem to be lacking appealing, articulate storylines. Cinematics, on the other hand, always seem to have awesome storylines. For example, Creatures of the Night, Tale of Archon, etc. The only thing that they lack is gameplay (obviously, since that contradicts their purpose). I'm apologize if I sound like I'm ranting aimlessly. It's just, this community could pump out some amazing projects if the talents of modders and cinematic-makers were unified. If there are some WC3 projects out there that can humiliate my claim, I implore you to show them to me. I'd love to play a good campaign! :> Any comments, responses? :\ |

Yup, youve got a point there. Even most cinematics lack a decent storyline. The problem is, people are lazy, fall asleep in English class, and cant write well. It is hard to come up with an original, non-cliched story, but that is a challenge many modders should step up to. *cough* dont forget CotD, its got one of the better stories in wc3 modding thus far ;). |

Yeah, tell me about it. I've seen way too many maps overflowing with typos, grammatical errors lack of punctuation, etc. Who leaves a typo in a map, anyway?! Is it that hard to hit back space, and retype the word?! Let alone use a damn spell check! After the uncounted hours poured into a project, you'd think more authors would want to aim for a more professional final product. Quote:
I don't even mind cliche storylines, as long as they're not just stupid. Hell, Lord of the Rings could even be considered a cliche story, though they seemed to set the popular trend of good vs. evil fantasy. Quote:
Haven't played CotD yet, actually. I've heard lots of good things about it, however, and the screenshots look awesome. I'll be sure to check it out! :D |
