(Sorry if this is the wrong forum) Does anyone know if you can import a unit's portrait into a map, to make it look like the model is accually talking? Not the face thing at the bottom of the screen but, accually have it in the map. Using the accual model, if you zoom in on the persons face, the face at the bottom talks, but not the accual model, cus the mouth doesn't move cus its just a skin. |

I'm doing it sometimes to get a pic of a model's head in WorldEditor and then convert it to an icon (can give good results). Gonna use it in my cinematic for closeups on unit faces. You can export the model's portrait in your map. If a unit's path is path\unit\unit.mdx , in the mpq, then the unit's portrait's path will be path\unit\unit_portrait.mdx , so you can just create a custom unit and enter the portarit's path name in the model field. You might have to remove the portrait's background image and glow, I think this could be made quite easily using mdl editing. |

Well i guess that is the best way to do it, but you will also have to take into consideration these points. 1 - The portait model only has the upper half of the body so u will have to position the camera to show only top half. 2 - the animation names of the talk. For most units its just "talk" so in ur triggers u will have to have .... Make Unit play Animation (talk) - well thats short version but u get the picture. Enjoy |

the problem is, when i'm positioning the camera, i need to get to close the the unit, when i do you cant even see the unit because i'm too close. do you know if its possible to accually raise the cam? if you get what I mean. I can only raisee it at an angle. Is it possible to raise the WHOLE thing up?. |
