Heh this happend to me when I was beginning skining.

Your problem is one way or another you messed with alpha channels(they erase the skin so team color can show up there)

Anyway take the original version of the skin, open your version and the orginal in Photoshop or whatever program your using.

then copy your entire skin and paste it over the entire original skin by doing
Select all
copy
(click on original)
Paste

Then save your new skin, try it in game and it shouldn't be red,

*If this doesn't work try copying your skin in parts then pasting them onto the original.

You can't see alpha channels from a jpg.
What the other guy said is correct; you messed up the alpha channels.
That's the only way you get what you where talking about when reskinning something. You should be using a paint-program that allows for alpha channels for one, and mind that (at least in coreldraw which I use) using 'selection' is alpha channeling something. So if you select pieces to drag around and then deselect them, you end up with a visible but deselected picture.. causing there to be only teamglow. If you select everything, there will be no teamglow, nor transparent bits it the model contains them. Check the original, check what's selected (and thus alpha-channeled) and make sure the new tga has the same selection. You usually can also cnp your new picture over the original, leaving alpha-channeling intact. If that aint workin', consider a new painting program.
