Finally after a long wait the new and totally reworked AMAI 2.0 has been released. You can find it on the newly designed AMAI site.
There are two versions this time. The Player Edition for those who just want to play with/against AMAI and the Developer Edition which allows to create own strategies and profiles with an editor and share them over the net.

For those who do not know yet, AMAI is an advanced melee AI for Warcraft that especially in insane mode plays better than the normal AI. It also uses neutral heroes, mercs, tries to save wounded units in battle and many other things.

New features:
- Harassing
- More Zeppelin micromanagement
- Fixed memory leaks
- Completely reworked internals to allow easy customization
- ...

Very cool. Though, even before finding this, I still lost to the computer. :p

Anyway, I do have question regarding the altered maps.

I know that it gives a warning that it may not allow you to play those maps on B.net. But, what if, in an instant of inattention, said maps are altered and they're not backed up?

Should I uninstall the whole game and start over? Or is there a place where I can download backups of the original ROC maps?

It's no big emergency, but I am a bit worried.

The maps that come with Warcraft can also be found in the MPQs so you can extract them from there with WinMPQ.

Honestly I don't remember the changes my self maybe only 50% of them, we have been working on this version for too long. :)

But you could say it's a new version of the old version, from a developers view it's a totaly different AMAI, nothing is like the old one any more, but from the players view only a little has changed, but much more will change for the players when it's very easy to imrpove AMAI with new strategies and profiles.

Ah, there is a bug in there that prevents the help from being displayed. That part of the Commander is bugged anyway a bit since it was not tested for quite some time since most who use the Commander use the dialog. I suggest just use that too until I fixed the chat commands. To use the dialog, just press ESC.
