I hate to say it erwt but thats not your best work, better than what I can do but I've seen better from you. But I'm sure the art school to which you are applying will recongnize your potential and skill, best of luck. -Peace ez |

his right leg (on our left) looks odd, like the foot is out of place, i do have to say that it isnt my favorite thing by you, though i tend to like completely origional works, not collages. Is it supposed to be a collage? Personally, i think a completely hand drawn piece would look a little better [EDIT: how long do you have untill its due to the school?] |

Hmm.. I like the idea. Looks pretty nice overall, BUT.. there's some things.. Like Count said, that leg looks a little odd; it may be the size and positioning of the foot. Also, some of the things in the tornado look like they're just sitting there motionless. Finally, the hand that's on the same side as the funky foot (our left, his right) doesn't look like its gripping the arm of the chair, if that's what you were going for. It kinda looks like he's making a half-fist on top of the chair. All i could think of to fix that would to make it seem like the hand is wrapping around the arm of the chair. And i think that's it. I hope that helped somewhat. Good luck on getting in! |

Very cool collage, though I'm not entirely a fan of collages in general, either. Did whomever gave the assignment say collages were a good idea? For some artists, I could see that, but you're an excellent illustrator and this doesn't really highlight your innate strengths (in my opinion). Because of that, there isn't much else in the way of feedback I feel I can provide. >.< But it is a cool piece. =) |

one problem i see in the picture. the object's lighting doesn't fit the the background. what about try drawing the whole thing yourself and coloring it, unless they want it like that. |

my crits: if they asked for a collage, then its fine, but if they didnt say anything about it then i'd definitely reccomend drawing it all. but it depends on if they are going for more of graphic design or traditional art) the black text is hard to read is "acces" supposed to be "access"? do they like cartoony-ness? because you dont show any realistic art here, and that might be helpful to have... the cartoony guy is ok, but having a realistic person would probably look nicer, as long as it doesnt cramp your style. maybe a realistic, detailed sketch of the backround? (i think most colleges appreciate realistic fine art more than anything else) |

the letter said that i should use any means nescesary to express myself... and so i made this, it kind of mirrors my life in a way... i dont think i have the time to fix it, cuz i still have to complete my portfolio AND make some scetches about the 5 subjects alone... i had a talk with my arts teacher and she recomended to keep this, but make something for each subject seporate, nothing big, but SOMETHING... scetchy... and maybe more real.. but i really dont have that.. she also said that i should really show my strong points in the scetches, wich is basically figure drawing... i'm, pretty sure i can draw just about anything as long as it doesnt involve paint >.< allthough... i highly specialize in comic style... but i have a big variation of comic style drawings, some are allmost realistic.. i think i dont really have a chice but to keep it this way, my entry day is friday and i still have a dutch debate and a physics test coming tomorrow... so time is not my friend right now... DAMN... i hate school... i'll maybe just tweak it ba little more, add some shadows, fiddle with contrast and colors...that sorta thing.. i'll let you all know how it went.. saturday, then i'll be back... the greatest thing that i need to do, is motivate myself, WHY do i think this is the education for me? WHAT exaclty do you hope to accieve by following this education... that sorta thing...>.< just looked over the papers again, to be certain, but it sais right here that comic art is REQUIRED for illustration ^_^ |

to be brutaliy honest with you I think you scrap that first pic and should make one from scratch completely hand drawn. Even for a design/collage pic it's not working, maybe if you change the color of the fonts and made the character more realistic to match with the scene..... It looks like its quickly slapped on with photoshop.. comon man you can do better. I don't know the cartoon look of the character and photo background is not working. cartoon character on photo background makes things look cheesy. Im just giving some brutal crits because i really want you to get in that college, so don't take anything too personally. One thing I learned from art teachers is that they really favor realism.I showed my art teacher some crazy detailed robots and characters from my sketch book, and she wasn't really impressed, but when i showed her a simple still life drawing of books on a table shes impressed. Still lifes, lifedrawing etc.... It doesn't have to be a freakin masterpiece, but some still lifes will do. They want to see that you have observing skills. Even animators that draw cartoony stuff need still lifes and life drawings in there portfolio. Lifedrawing is really not that hard, all it is is correct proportions and correct values. If you have to make something in color I have some tips ( or shortcuts 0_0)that might help you. The easiest and fastest way to make harmonizing colors. Use an anagolus color scheme. Anagolus is kind of like monochromatic( same colors) but different. It uses one color and it's neighbors, almost like monochromatic. For example You use Orange as a dominating color , Orange red , and Orange Yellow for your whole painting. It really harmonizes and gives a mood. All you have to worry about is the values ( light and dark) It's easier than it sounds. |

i'm gonna have to agree with everything kimchi said. but i dont know what the exact criteria are for this piece... if comic art is required, then it might be ok, but nothing really stands out to me as much as your other stuff does. :\ |

I think my issue with it is that it looks like something i could do... and you're way better than that. |

yes, the cartonny doesnt fit with the rest, as others have said. is this going to be in belgian or english? if its english its 'were', not 'where'. also, the tornado lines dont seem to form a cohesive whole, if you follow the end of one section it doesnt link up with the start of the next. |

Once again I state before I don't think this is your best work, and I can agree with what kimchi said, my sister is applying for art college and although she has a talent in cartoony/semi-real when people have reviewed her portfolio they have concentrated more on her still lifes and her realeastic paintings. |
