Well, I noticed you can give reputation to old posts... Someone just gave me a "Ohh goodie, an arrogant prick" to a several month old locked thread, for a valid argument, I might add... Can you remove old reputations, or something? Someone really doesnt like me... Whoever it is, PM me, I'd like to talk to you. Dunno if this is the right forum, but its a suggestion, and not serious enough for staff forum... |

There's already a few threads on this, but as you bring up a new topic, I'll add my opinion. Two ways this can go... should sins of the past be atoned for by not allowing reputation to be give? Is it actually possible to disable reputation option for 'older' posts... I doubt it. Looking at your reputation, you seem to have pissed multiple members off here. Maybe you are the problem. I mean the word 'arrogant' appears twice, and you claim 'I am adept at skinning'. Just think on it... Look in the official thread, and stop making clone threads! For every 1000 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. For every 100 positive reputation points, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. Users must have 50 posts to be able to impact other users reputation levels. You must have 10 reputation points to be able to impact other users reputation levels. [10 is what everyone starts with] You may only rate 10 posts in a 24h period, reserve your vote for the best of the best and worst of the worst. You may not rate someone a second time until you have 20 users rate your account. |

well, im not sure, since reputation is a mod, but they could just have non-stuck threads with no new posts for, say, 30 days, locked, and disabled it for locked skins.. As for multiple people, it seems like superpeon is making clone accounts, or asking his friends to, since he's the only person I've truely pissed off, and the negatives all seem to be in the same style of writing.. Atleast add names to reputations, and have someone moderate them, like dl section stuff... I also dont see whats wrong with saying that i'm adept at skinning, it it my opinion, and noone elses. I can actually skin super-high res very well, or with a good uv (I really despise blizzard's uvs..) and adept is an understatement for almost any "big" skinner here (in my eyes..) since adept to me us "to par".. I see how it can go two ways... I once was banned from a forum for a week and lost a mod spot for a 8 month old or-so thread for posting a porn link before rules were against it, which is similar to this sort of thing.. In that thread, you, JD, and I were like lawyers in a "semi-big" case, and using that example, would be like a random guy yelled at the DNA guy (since I was going to-the-pixel..) and calling him an asshole for doing his job... Whatever, I'm merely saying dead threads shouldn't impact your reputation.. They're all dead subjects, let them drop... I used this as an example because its what opened my eyes to it.. Sorry is my examples are bad... quick reply box is no good for proofing stuff.. |

well, more proof that it should be moderated is that sansui got a negative to his reputation for his request thread where he has made many low-poly weapons and skins for people without ever charging a single point... Now, is that a good use of it, or someone with a grudge? Look around at people's profiles... a LOT of reputations that need to be deleted.. |

Yes im guessin someone really hates me... Dont know why i dont think ive ever pissed any one off owell... Im going to laff when some of the Thread necromancers start to put rep on the oldest threads. I dont understand the rep system yet i just got back. |

see? auto putting names on this would help a lot... That way we can all negative rep the members who do the rate abuse (mainly chump's and sansui's..) or just ban the spammer.. |

well, heres a fine example of a member who should be banned... "give me negative reputation?? Biotch. Reputation is shit who cares." Because I have him negative reputation for spamming in teneur2g's thread. It was either: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthread.php?p=493892 Its a thread about teneur2g's wart on his foot, and they replied: Salaam: i got 7 set long swords today mfing Kalar: i have aids!!!!11 kalar (I dont believe it was him, since he replied to my negative rep, and he didnt act angry) salaam "You guys are really taking this too seriously." Its a site feature, and I am only trying to help it become better, and less abusable. I feel portraying me as a "Lamer" with it half the time (since I get a lot of negative reps for random posts..) unless I'm on IRC (where I am a true lamer) is somewhat unfair... I've noticed that noobs take the system the wrong way, and give anyone who corrects them a negative rep... an observation.. We really need someone to moderate the reputations like DL section was... |

I think it should be reputation for the whole forum in general, not just a thread or forum. They should be given at free will, to the user in general, withouth delay or having to be accepted. Sounds fair to me ;) |

it seems that way at a glance, rat, but if you look at several profiles, you could see it is easily abused... The only way I can think of fixing the abuse is auto-signing them, moderating them, or allowing only the staff to give out reputation (and the 100 post stuff) |

I agree, it should be moderated, Or at least let you see the names of the rater. Anyways, hopefully this thing will get worked out but i'm not too worried about my points atm. Still, you can protest it but the system will never really work without people being able to rate freely, even if it is moderated people's personal feuds and the amount of rating would be hard to keep up with. And some mods could ignore it intentionally or by mistake. Still, stoned said he'd take action if it got outta hand so if things get worse there will probaly be retribution for offenders. |
