My term has expired - I'm thinking of buying it - has anyone else done this? are there other free programs I could try out first? |

I actually bought it and found it very well worth the money. Milkshape and 3ds max are the only programs you can use for Warcraft with reasonable (and that's a stretch for Milkshape) exporting, so your choices are kind of limited. |

I get a lot of normals errors with milkshape - sometimes on very (very) simple models... Is this what you mean about it being 'unreasonable' for mdl exporting? |

In my opinion it is not worth the purchase of milkshape. The very unstable verify system (like, if you have ought it it sometimes refuses to recognise it and still reverts back to demo...then you can wait for a while for tech support) and the limited options (like wrapping...usually you could had used lithunwrap, but that is also not free anymore, which means you have to buy both componements) are some of the reasons not to buy it. My opinion is not to buy it. If I have to evaluate your work, it seems that you usually export static objects most likely. Then Gmax will suffice that function as well then (of course it requires some information regarding mdl editing but its quite easy + you need Dex) |

Lithunwrap is still free, but the thing is taht teh creator also made ULTIMATE UNWRAP 3D, the diffrence: UU3D looks nicer and has a tooll bar while in LU u keep using the drop down menu, and UU3D has a 3D preview, which is nice for selecting certain faces and such |

Milkshape doesn't need LithUnwrap... it has a built in unwrapper. |
