I like the one on the right better. The one on the left looks greasy and his hair doesn't have highlights. |

The hair on the left has highlights - they're more realistically subtle. I love the new one, and think it's vastly improved. I particularly like the way you made the outlines finer (big outlines are okay, but I like thin ones more), and made the lighting on his armour more believable. The skin looks much more painterly now, and is nicely rendered, and the face more refined (nice eye!). Overall, I think he's much sexier now! The only thing I really want to say is that the way you shade armour is very... soft and air-brushy, in general. It just doesn't look crisp and solid, like the rest of the piece. I'd like to see some more sharp edges and angles, and where it's rounded a more "beat/pounded metal" look to it, if possible. Very minor thing, but it was on my mind. ^^ |

do u do shading w/ dodge/burn? i actually prefer coloring by changing the shade of color and going over it at a low opac. linear dodge tends to make skin look rather oily, and burning sometimes gives a gunky/inky color to skin. but i do love the way u colored that armor... |

Much better! Great job, orin. ;D |

since ur choosing for a concept art, pick the left one |

The left one looks better, but for some reason I think the division of shading on the armor is a little too straight - it looks a little like some sort of half-and-half armor, light-side and dark-side. If it's supposed to be that way, okay. If the lighting is natural, then I think you should also brighten up some areas such as the forehead and the top of the nose of that face in the armor in front of his collarbones. I'm no master of art, though. |
