As the title says, i need some helpful suggestions, or complements, or something, about my terrain. Im a terraining n00b, so naturally i need some help. These are shots from an RPG, but the help you provide (IF you do) I can use anywhere. I cant think of anything else to say, (except that this is my first post here, and also my first post w/ screens), so here're the pictures. EDIT: oops, the pics were way too big. fixed them. |

looks really good for a n00b. the biggest thing for me, is that the ruins trees don't seem to fit in well. Since you arent using tiles from the ruins, try to put different trees in instead. Also i think the coral arch is way too out of place. Another smaller note is that you might wanna try to get some different grass and dirt tiles in there. Try to find ones that fit in well from other tilesets. |

Yeah, alot of the doodads don't fit in with the tileset, if your trying to make a jungle type area, use the sunken ruins tileset, but if your using lordaeron summer, use lordaeron sumer trees and doodads from that tile set, also add differen't grass, try putting in some fog, even if its a RPG, fog sets the mood a little. |

thanks for responding. I followed everyones suggestions, and added 2 more grasses(its convienant when you find you have 2 open spots in your tileset ;) ), removed the coral, and swapped the trees. I was trying to go for a dessert/tropical look, but it didnt go to well. I can only post one screenshot now because I am short on time. Any suggestions on this one? (its from a different perspective, so you can see part of the town as well) thx again. |

Trees in deep water? And you need tile variation. |

Quote:
You can have trees an deep water, they just have to be ruins trees, or ruins trees, on the ashenvale canopy tree model, even then, it wont look great, only just acceptable |

Now more tileset variation and raise and lower it randomly with a size 3 or 4 circle brush. |

I just realized that i posted a screen of a part in my map where you can barely see what i did to the terrain. I have to go in about 3 minutes ;) so ill work on it in a bit and then edit this post with it attached. And since no one likes the trees in the water, (even though its supposed to be shallow water) ill remove them. And work on everything else... EDIT: what do you think of this? |
