In my view... I would say the high times of the forum where when I first came here... and the Master contest had just started. We had our one mod... and Wolverine wasn't a total idiot, and all was well. Then I guess it all just fizzled out... the community became to new and flashy... no longer emphasizing good works, but just to have fun. In this respect I guess Wolverine was right (Desperado is Wolverine... just so you know). Essentially, now we must start back from the basics... the basic concepts based off of Warcraft. Unfortunately... because the game has gotten 'stale'... it is much harder to come up with an original concept. MoOp is gone as well... and why didn't anyone notice Hex's abscence? everything is going to pieces... and we, as the "suckier" artists... are unable to change anything. icbm1987 |

I post in the places where I can be of help. And as for buying all that stuff... holy crap. At least you have the materials that you will need to to quality work now. Just keep drawing and getting better... look at KMK's inspiration post at the top of the page for good references (it's stickied, so it should be easy to find). Now, what we have to do now is make some REAL art... meaning stuff that would fit into Warcraft pretty well. Let's get this forum back to its original purpose. icbm1987 |

well i start class in infography in september, ill have to draw and make stuff via photoshop, also ill have to get a wacom too so im not out of the wood with the stuff to buy... Basically the job of an infographist consist to create stuff like bands logos, ads, almost everything like mcdonald big ads on buildings or victoria secret goes trough an infographist, creation is like 50% of the job and drawing is an insane ''must have'' that make some ppl the best infographists, so from the posters in ur bedroom to bands cd cover and victoria secret ads an infographist did the job :8 |

I slowed during the whole upgrade thingie when the forum was down for a bit. But anyway i dont check th skinning forum much anymore because its useless you rarely see a NEW skin. The custom models are fun and i think the not working point system lowered participation a bit. But hey i got my Weapon dls up to 14 now soon ill be done with all then ill release my weapon pack. Still only get 1 or 2 replies on free models. Any way enough about me. Or i could actually start drawing and stop sketching for 2 mins then posting. |

This part of the site has always been doomed. After all, this forum is just an off-shoot, a spin-off of the nature of the site. The major action goes on (or went on, I haven't stopped by reciently) in the skinning, mapping, modeling and scripting forums. I have only personally draw concept art for WarCraft III for two other people on this site. And I've only ever seen one of my concepts turned into a model and skinned (the Master Contest). I really don't understand this 'community' that everyone's refering to. I guess because I was to perifreal, and never got involved. Then again, I saw a lot of this forum's activity as extraneous, and not keeping in with the theme of the site. I always thought people did too much talking and didn't say anything useful to an artist, and that people didn't spend enough time producing. But that's my personal view and I'm not pointing a finger, just expressing a personal view (that of the "bane of the art forum"). Now, I've done a share of participation. I used to have a gallery (the forum change deep sixed it), and I used to give some comments on artwork. I don't know if they were good criticisms, but I tried to stay positive and encourage improvement. If there's one thing this forum could've greatly benefited from it would have been more thoughtful comments on art. Comments like "Nice job, the left hand is too big" doesn't help an artist improve. I even posted actual WarCraft III concept art, but it got very little attention. In fact, only one of about twelve designs was even picked up by someone interested in modeling, but that didn't go very far. I'm sad to say, one of the reasons I stopped coming by was because all of the really interesting and exciting people left or stopped droping by this forum. Wolverine, a prolific creator of great artworks, ended up being shoved out. And Orin, who could create concepts and personally flesh them out, I felt, left us to work on his private affairs, where he could be with more like-minded individuals. These are just my takes on the situation, and in no way fully represent the situations surrounding these two individuals. I'd like to apologize for those I didn't mention, but know that I haven't been by in a while, and I haven't bothered to get completely caught up. One thing that bugs me is the quality of the pictures presented. I remember I always had to remind people to scale down their images so I could see it all at once, and to crop their images. Seriously, pencil sketches on lined paper can look good, but it's important to know how to present a refined image. These are just my thoughts. Is this forum really being shut down? |
