i had a custom spellshield amulet in my map and it worked fine but just yesterday i noticed that it wasnt working anymore i went and tested it and the default spellshield necklace and amulet some more and they are not working at all, they dont block any spells anymore im not sure why they stopped working, ever since the beginning i havent touched the abilities or the items there isnt any new triggers that relate to them either, why did they stop working? |

Wow, uhm, ok I've never heard of anything like that ever happening before. Try to recall the last time you remember them working and what you've done since then on your map. Tell us a little about what unit you've been testing the ability with, and testing the items with. Perhaps there's something special about the unit/hero you've been using and testing with, something maybe you changed in the object editor or triggers you've used on the unit? Also, have you fiddled with the advanced options at all? I have no idea what the problem is, but if we know what you've been tinkering with we might be able to track it down better. |

As a point of reference, I've noticed that hitting the hotkey for the Spellshield ability will cause the spellshield to fire and start the cooldown process, even if there's no spell directed at it. Since the default ability doesn't have a hotkey (understandably, since it's not supposed to be a commanded ability), it actually fires when you hit the Escape key while the unit with the ability is selected. I don't think that this necessarily bears on your problem, but if you happen to be hitting the hotkey before you test, that might be why it's not working. |

hm... i have no idea what is wrong, i previously thought it was just that map, i just opened up another map and tried it, ( create 2 heroes for myself, give one spellshield amulet, other stormbolt and firebolt, change those 2 spells to be able to target allies) and it didnt work for that map either..... is there something wrong with my world editor? and i dont think its because im targetting my own units that it shouldnt work, because it should activate even if its my own unit and besides the reason i happened upon this was i was playing with other ppl and i got hit by a spell from another player EDIT: ok i just opened world editor and started a whole new map from scratch i made myself a hero with firebolt, hurl boulder and player 2 blue same hero and gave him spellshield amulet it still didn't work, both spells got through and the amulet did not activate at all so even a new map the amulet wont work for me.. why is it doing this? |

no no world editor enhancements or anything, just the default world editor the spell shield abilities was working before maybe a week ago since i played my map and saw the custom amulet being used i did add some triggers to that map but it shouldnt effect any other maps.. it was saved to the map though since i played with other ppl and it didnt work there so its not just my side... any ideas whats wrong and how i can fix it? EDIT: ok i uninstalled and reinstalled war3 and TFT and i tried spellshield amulet and it worked! what do u think caused this problem? and also, now my world editor has a black border in the minimap around the map, it wasnt there before (the black border is not usable and cannot have terrain placed on it) i tried adjusting map border and camera sizes but the black border stays with the resize, how do i get it out? EDIT again: hm... it stopped working again on that map, not sure what is causing it, it worked once after i reinstalled, then i changed some triggers not related to spellshield and it doesnt work anymore, however on a new map it will work... any idea whats the problem? |

maybe you wontonly installed mods and then didnt clean up before mapping and saving, who knows, Atm i dont think anyone can help you... |

Try having the spellshield ability on enemies, I think that it doesn't block allied spells. |

no i have never used any mods or map modfiers or anything like that, just war3 and world editor and when i tested it i gave myself player 1 red a mk then player 2 blue a paly and create spellshield amulet for the paly, then i try to stormbolt the blue's paly i think it may have to do with bad ability data (either that or buffs/effects) though all other spells seem to work fine only thing i can think of why its like that is that long while back i was almost saving the map then was using another program when the other program crashed, i thought by map was messed up but when i checked it out it seemed to be fine, only thing different was that my world editor tabs were all the way to the left, and i had to move everything back so i could see the options if i reinstall war3 and TFT , it will work once, then if i open again it wont work again is there a way to import new buffs/effects data to overwrite the one in the map? EDIT: ok i imported buff and upgrade data from a blank map and it seems like it works! stunbolt and other spells are blocked, but my spells which are based on finger of pain are not being blocked.. i am pretty sure it blocked finger of pain and worked before, can anyone know if its supposed to block finger of pain and if is it, then why its not blocking it? |

it might not block FoP seeign as spell immune units can be targeted by FoP. |
