Charity system

Well ive been thinking about some systems to put in for my TD, and i thought up an idea to add a kind of team oriented twist to a survivor td. Well pretty much it is a charity system, where donating towers (building in their area) towers will earn you charity points, and reach certain 'charity levels'. after each set of monsters you will gain gold according to your charity level, as well as the normal gold you would have gained. Of course after the towers were finished building, their control would be transfered to the player they were 'donated' to.

For example, say player 1 built 3 towers that cost 10 gold, and one that costs 20, in player 2's area cuz he was having trouble or they were buddies. That would earn him 50 charity points, getting him to charity level 1. Then after the set of monsters player would gain 25 extra gold for his charity level (whereas level 2 would gain him 50 gold).

Well post whether or not you like this idea, and any questions or tweaks you whitnk i should add

totally unbalalanced. if he spent 50 gold to get 50 per income exta plus giving another player new towers, wouldnt that be giving him free gold?

do you understand the meaning of the word charity? getting things for free is a form of charity

yea i do, but charity seemed to fit the system pretty well, but then what do you think it should be called.

and it will not be that exactly, so im not gonna have it be one gold earned for each gold given, that was just an example. And the sets of monsters is 8 constant streaming levels each, so you would not be getting the gold after every level.

Too abusable: How about if two players start building towers in each other's place? They would both have the same ammount of towers as they would if they built them in their own places, but would boost their charity bonus as well.

The idea is otherwise cool, helping others with your towers, but it should be done without the player giving the towers getting any bonus. That's the point of charity, giving out without getting anything back, except a good feeling that you helped. But, that way, it would be just easier to give gold to that player instead of towers and let him build them. (unless players have different races, because then building your towers in someone else's place would give new combinations.)

yea that was the exact abuse problem i was thinking about. I'm probably gonna set up something that will detect who donated towers and if the ratio of towers gets too far towards donations there will be penalties

Its a good concept but have a different means of payback, not directly relating to haw the game is played. Maybe at different charity levels you get a random bonus tower of that level. The towers could also be charity themed, like Tower of Salvation, or Alms Giver.
