Hi long time reader slow time poster here... I was just wondering if any of you guys can help me out here... what i want to do is allow a buliding to research a skill. Lets say Frost Nova... Easy enough you may say. But i got past that point... What i want to know is how can i make it research that skill several times increasing its damage and lower its cooldown time? What I have done so far is in: object editor - Upgrades -Frost Nova Level 1(Based on Skeletal Mastery[I don't think it really matters whats skill its based on]) -I modified the Data-Effect 1 to Ability Level Bonus -Below it i changed Ability Affected: to Frost Nova -Further down i altered Stats-Levels to 10 -then filled in the gaps Than i went to Abilities - Frost Nova -Went down to Stats-Levels modified to 10 -Changed mana and cooldown. Now this is where I'm stumped... None of the changes worked... All mana is the same and so is cooldown What did i do wrong? |

Have you looked at the building in the Object Editor and set it so it can use the upgrade? Also you might have to edit Frost Nova to be linked to the upgrade as well. Take a look at Techtree Requirements for the building and the spell, and if you need some better visual referencing look at armor/attack upgrades for footmen or the priests' training upgrades. |

um... yeah dont get smart with someone whos trying to help... Sorry if I was late with editing my post though. I often make changes after I post since I think of something else to add. I guess I should to use preview more often. |

Ok sorry... anyways... heres what i've found so far... Quote:
unfortunately Weapon Upgrades and Caster upgrades seem pretty useless too... The closest idea is one of my other abilities but that doesn't work either... Its based on Skeleton Mastery as well...(I think this is the only skill that actually has 2 levels in it... once again sorry... PS. don't mind the triple dots thats just how i end my lines mostly |

Data Effect 1 - Ability Level Bonus - Increment - 1 it should look like this: Data Effect 1 - Ability Level Bonus Data Effect 1 - Ability Affected Frost Nova Data Effect 1 - Ability Level Bonus - Increment - 1 |

i've done that... no offence but i just figured it was implied... with the upgrading it says Frost Nova Level 1 Frost Nova Level 2 etc But when i look at the ability on the unit it just doesn't want to change. it will just stay as Frost Nova Level 1 even though i modified each level with a different name |

I made an example in a map with frost nova. Download it to check it out. The custom upgrade is based off of undead - skeletal mastery. FrostNovaUpgrade.w3x |

hmm... cool it works but i wonder where did i go wrong? unfortunately, i haven't worked out what i've done wrong... i figured it was because i used a hero for the skills but that isn't the case... heres the map can you tell me what i done wrong? never mind i found out where i went wrong.. I didn't add the Researches Used for the hero that i gave the skills to... |
