A question about multiple skins

I'm looking to have two demon hunters with a different skin on each one. Does anyone know how this is done? I remember seeing at one time a thread about this so I'm pretty sure it's possible.

So, yea, it's possible.

You need to either decide that one of them will be the wacky TFT demon-demon hunter and the other the RoC version, or you need to extract the demon hunter model and edit it to point to a new skin.

I'll direct your thread.

Umm.. dont you just edit the skin? Or am i misunderstanding the question? o_O

To have 2 of the same model with different skins, you'll need to duplicate the model and tell it to use a new skin.

Unless, as is the case with some models, they're used more than once in the game already.

But, to the best of my knowledge, that's not the case with the Demon Hunter. The demonized Illidan from TFT is the closest thing.

okay, thanks for the answers. I guess I'll have to discard this idea since I don't know anything about toying with models.

Im doing this right now, and what you have to do is
1. make the second skin (or both if theres 2 completely new skins you want)
2. extract the .mdx of the unit you want to change and conver it to a .mdl.
3. then if you look the .mdl you will see like a textures area with the path of the original skin. change that to the path of your edited skin
4. save the .mdl and convert back to a .mdx.
5. then import the skin under the path you put down in the .mdl then import the new model. then youre in business.
6. now this step i had to do, it may be not required or something tho. You have to do the same thing with the portrait model if you want it different. make sure its the same file name but with _Portrait on the end. so for you, .....\HeroDemonHunter.mdx will be .....\HerDeomnHunter_Portrait.mdx.

If you need more help just ask :D

edit: oh shoot didnt see ur last post... I can do it for you but i would rather you learn. look at some .mdl editing tuts and it should help. im no tutorial writer so... it may be confusing without past .mdl knowledge.

in fact this is the most basic .mdl editing ever... so how can it be confusing? everything in mdl is arranged in an order :)
