Does anyone here know where I might find a model for an elven spearman. I need one for Gil-galad in my map.

I made two versions a while ago for CaQT. The one based on Spell Breaker is unfortunately only for CaQT and HoS, but I can send you the version based on Fel Guard if you wish.

I was planning to make a byzantine skutatoi in the future - I'll look at it and see if it can be a lotr cross-over...

I knocked this up in about 10 mins - I've totally boned him (mahahaha) - but not animated yet

I didn't have any reference, I just did it how I remembered those elves from the LOTR movie

post up any refs, crits etc.

I quite like the way it looks so I'll do this model even if no one wants it

I made the cape one sided so it hangs from one side like a cloak wraped around the neck

AFAIK Gilgalad didn't have a shield or helmet - If you get some references I'll make a version like that as well...

I want to try one that has a hand free to spin his spear around...

I was going to say which kind of attack is best - 1) the underarm poke (more realistic/defensive) or 2) the the overarm javelin stab

Then I realised I should do them both - this is going to be cool because since the spear is not attached to his hand (it's free floating) he can toss it in the air and grab it and stab with the overarm stroke...

now the only question is whether I should put his elf ears back - I thoughtlessly chopped them off - I could put them back but they could be alphaed from the skin if necessary

that's it... I'll copy that helmet

make the spear a little more interesting

and copy the shield

and their 'skirts' seem to go to one side - I might try and allude to this but I don't think you'll really see it in game

Your helmet seems fine, just make sure you have a plane like A Greek helmet's plume, so the cut-out shape can be done using texture alpha.
