Hey guys I'm working on a Starcraft campaign and I really needed a Dark Templar for the story. I am very anxious to play PR's Starcraft mod but it seems like its a long way from completion. I'm a very impatient person so I decided to try and make my own. I downloaded a Medivh model without the staff and cape from http://krakou57.free.fr/ and I started making my very first skin. I don't really like how it turned out. It's not done yet but I think I'm going to start over. Here are a few pics of what I've done so far. It would be great to get any tips or hints from you more experienced skinners. I might as well finish what I've started so I would like to hear what people think about what I have so far and how it can be improved. Thanks.

Wow, thats awsome. You should get someone to add on warp blades and animations for that.

Good, from what I can see. But those shots are really dark.

I'm just not happy with it because it doesn't look enough like a Protoss. I want to redo the armor and make it more high tech. The screenshots are from WE so the weapon isn't attached. I downloaded an electrical sword made by Corsair that looks pretty sweet in game.

Here's an in game pic.

Pretty nice skin IMO. The skin and stuff looks pretty cool, but the rest could be slightly more high-tech.

BTW, where did you get those Photon Cannons in the background from?

I'm really glad that I'm getting a lot of positive feedback. Thanks guys.

The Photon Cannons are from the STARCRAFT Map for B-Net version 1.1 made primarily by rlx.esp-samuro. I'm using them for a campaign I'm working on.

I've changed the skin a little bit so that it looks more like a Protoss. I think it looks a hundred times better but I'm eager to hear what other people have to say. Let me know what you think and maybe offer some suggestions as how to make it better. This is only my very first skin but I really want it to look good. Keep in mind this is only a WIP and not nearly complete. I'm really tired so I wanted to post a few pics before I went to bed. I'm finished with most of the body and I plan on making the hood and shoulder thingies yellow and blue to match the armor.

it needs more shading on the clothes and the lines between the scales appear to thick and pronounced

I'll definitely add more shading and highlights to the clothing, but the scales on the arm are really difficult to sharpen. The skin wraps really funny around the arm. I think the scales look perfect on the face and torso but it is near impossible to make it look the same on the arm. Thanks for the tips though I'll see what I can do. :D

All right guys I think I'm almost done. I'm really happy with the way it has turned out but I would like some more suggestions to make it better. Since this is my first skin and first time using photoshop, I'm not really sure how to use a lot of photoshop's tools. I don't really know how to do shading or highlighting but I don't think thats a big problem with this skin. It looks more cartoonish the way it is and I like that. I've read quite a few artistic tutorials lately and I think it paid off.

Here are a few pics of my almost finished Dark Templar.
