Problems with custom unit speech sounds

I have mad some custom units that I am using in a map (10 units) and need to add custom voices to these. From reading other postings it seems like there shoudl be two ways of doing this:

1) Replacing blizzard's sounds
This seems like it would be the easist way and would work fine for me since the custom units are the only ones being used. I open the sound editor in the we and find a unit whose sounds I can overwrite. Then i right click on some and use the replace internal sound option to load my sound. In the import manager, the path seems to match what it looks like it should be from looking at the mpq's. It seems like it would work, but it doesn't. In the games, it seems like warcraft just never picks the sounds that I added. It is possible that it is playing 0 sec duration sounds when it picks the custom sounds since sometimes the unit portrait looks like it is going to start "talking" then suddenly stops. Not sure.

2) Triggering
I can get the sounds to work, even though this takes a long time for 10 units. The problem is that I can't figure out how to make the unit portrait talk while playing the sounds. It seems like there would be a simple animation action to do this, but I can't find it.

Anyway, either way would be fine, as long as it works. I would prefer the first since it would be faster, but it really doesn't matter. Any help with any method would be greatly appreciated as I am getting extremely frustrated. Thanks in advance.

yeap the 1st works heaps well, only find a unit that u aint using on the map at all and that has about the same amount of responses that u want 4 your unit
