Hi all. I have done alot of customs, such as AoS and the like. I only say this to prevent the answer "learn to edit your n00bzor". What i don't know i how to make a mod. I havn't found any resource about this. Back in the Starcraft days all you did was mods, but back then things were very different. Can someone take the time to explain how to go about making a custom mod? |

I guess that you mean either a whole campaign or a Total Conversation. Since TFT it is quite easy to create a standalone campaign with the campaign editor. A Total Conversation is way more complicated. Unless you don't know a lot about the files used and their impact on the game, you won't make a good start. It's way too complicated to explain the procedure of developing a Total Conversation. Basically you modify the files, that specify the data of units, you change the art, you write code,... |

Well, thats what i wanted to know basicly. But how can you "install" a mod like that on antoher computer. Does one write some sort of install that backups the exisiting 1.14 files and put your own their instead, or is there a simplier way to do that, lika a different "warcraft 3-startup-icon" that loads different files? |

There is no standardized solution to install a mod. There was this Campaign Installer from Zepir, which has been used for the first campaigns (back in the RoC days, where you couldn't create Campaign Files). The concept is right, you backup the War3Patch.mpq and replace it with the modded one. I have seen different techniques to accomplish this. For example Batch scripts that rename the files accordingly to switch between TFT and a mod. The Campaign Installer concept (a subfolder inside the WC3 dir, which contains modified executeables) should still work. Actually the whole tool should work, but I can't confirm this, as there is no big demand for that (did you see any completed TC out there?). Maybe the tool needs a TFT upgrade, but basically it should work. |

I'd suggest creating a executable mpq archive using MPQDraft. That way you wouldn't need to create a customized war3x.mpq... |

You are right that there are some bad versions of MPQDraft around. But I did never have any issues with the latest version... |

Thought it would be nice to be able to add a modifier to a shortcut like -FPS to load fps mod or -game fps like halflife did. |
