I only recently started working with the editor and haven't completed anything yet. I would like some feedback on a small part of the map that I am working on for the moment.
It is meant to be a small mountain castle.

I tried to bring more variation in the groundtextures but all those cliffs make that a lot of the region cant be changed.

Not bad for first terraining, how about adding sky/fog, more trees and a different cam angle. It is a good start though, keep it up.

When I saw the words, "small mountain castle," I thought it was kind of original. But then when I saw it, it was kind of plain. = \
Add more than just dirt, please. Plain dirt just looks horrible unless your in some kind of wasteland, then it's understandable.
Spice up the terrain a little more, add some roughness to it. Then add a few more doodles (not too many though), and it should be good.

I think what i need to appreciate this more is a better viewpoint. Have the view like when you scroll in in wc3. I just dont like that view.

Well I got a problem with the first thing you say. I tried everything but because of those cliffs a lot of the textures cant be changed from dirt. Only those far enough from the cliffs I can change and as you can see thats not much.
About the roughness, how do you suggest I would do that.

When all else fails, use doodles. There are plenty of plants that can be found in there.

This isn't the Starcraft Editor. You can make not only cliffs, but hills too. Towards the bottom of the terrain toolbar, you can raise and lower hills. Use those to add a little edge to your mountain.

Edit:

Well I did change some things (but no weather or fog yet). I added some barricades, walls, a tower and plants.
Do you think I need even more, or is there something else missing?

I personally dont like that the only buildings you used were the human buildings... Aren't there any else? Like maybe the city buildings, perhaps...

Looks a bit better now, although did you know your cliff type is screwed up near the bottom by the barracks?

I noticed it. I dont know how it happened, but I thought I would let it be, that way there is some variation in the tiles.
You think it would look better in the other cliff-type?

Also I have been messing around with weather, sky and fog, but I dont seem find anything that I really like. Could any of you give some hints?

About the buildings: I wanted the castle to be a strictly military, the village which I yet have to make would be build around it. I think it more realistic and fitting to what I need.

Very big improvement from the original. Nice work = )
All that's left is a few touch-ups like the ones Draco mentioned.

Well as for weather, you could take Lordareon rain light, or make some white fog (it's in the mountains, afterall). Sky..I would suggest the foggy one.
Oh, and btw, I would add some footman in the end :)

But good job anyway :D
