Ive been trying for sometime to achive realist mountains, but still cant do it. attached image 1 is of the effect im trying to achive, but i dont know how to get the spiked top The second image is of how far ive got on my 3rd attempt (theres a spell braker in the distance for scale), what i think i need is a version of that patch that riases max terrain height, but dosnt give 80 angle cliffs, then, for the second stage id need the 80 degree agnle bit to get the ridges and peaks on the mountain range. dose anyone know if this is achiveable, and if so how? |

I would raise it up with a size three circle brush. Always works for me! O and to do it, try using normal WE, not UMSWE or WEU :D |

But when i rasie up with the patch thing ive got, it dosnt go up smoothly, like a norma mountain, it goes up like a plato. and i have to have the patch to get the mountain big enough, so i have to use it and not use it at the same time, if you get what i mean |

O, you mean the miscdata.txt file? Well then, open it, and somewhere it says something about steepness, and it is set at 86. Go set it to 80. Hope that helped! |

i thought about changeing it, but thought it would be too complicated, but if its that simple, ill do it, thanks |

Ya. If you need to make ledges and such, just make the main shape of the mountain, then go back and change that to 86 or 90 or whatever. |

do you happen to know why i can get the max terrain heigh over about 5500, i put in 10000 but its still not going any higher, is this possable, or dose the game just not alow it to go over 5500? |

As far as I know it is. And if you go above, and then try to go that high, it like shoots straight down and gets all messed up. |

it dose that at height=5500, i tyhink thats more to do with the slope angle, as when i put a 45 degree slope in, but with the same height, that dropping down effect stops happeneing |

dont know if this will help but i always use the noise brush on the top of my mountains and it gets you some good random jagged peaks. Try not to use the plateau option. Just raise the ground and throw in cliffs and noise. Remember mountains come into existance a pretty chaotic way. They'll look pretty good with random cliffs and peaks and the right type of texture. |
