I just recently started a new TD map... the aim of the TD is to make a simple, 8-player solo TD. Here's some stats: -8 Players -Solo survival type TD -Encourages mazing -6 Races -40 towers each race -240 towers total (possibly some extra towers, so it will be roughly 250) -A unique tower system... The 'unique' tower system I decided to try out will add a nice twist to this map, and hopefully, people will enjoy it. Every race starts out only able to build one base tower. That base tower can upgrade into three different towers, each tower geared towards a special stat (Range, attack speed, or splash). Then, each of those towers can upgrade into another tower, also, each one geared towards one of the three stats, and finally, those towers can upgrade into three different towers each, each one geared towards a certain stat. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, but basically, every time you upgrade a tower it gets plus stats... Let's say A = Range, B = Speed, and C= AOE damage. Every race's base tower starts with two plus stats. The six races are: AA, BB, CC, AB, AC, BC. Then, each race has the same tech tree after that. As I said before, every upgrade adds to the tower's stats. So, lets say you picked the AC race. That would mean that all of their towers are long-ranged AOE. You start with the base tower, AC, and you can upgrade to either ACA, ACB, or ACC. If you choose ACA, then it's ACAA, ACAB, ACAC, if you choose ACAB, then its ACABA, ACABB, and finally ACABC. Just break each letter down, and you'll get the stats. Something like ACABC might give the tower something like +20 range, +10 attack speed, and +20 splash damage. The TD is a simple one, but I hope with this system of customized towers, it will be a very fun and fresh TD. Please post your comments or ideas regarding this map, or if you have question, go for it and ask. EDIT: I would just like to point out that I'm open to any kind of change, just please give suggestions or criticize the map if you want, as long as it's constructive, I don't care. I just need some feedback, thats all. Be honest :8 |

Here's an illustration of a race's tech tree. They grey tower represents the base tower, and the three colors correspond with stat boosts. |

The abilities seem too similar: it doesn't really matter which one you build; unless they are imbalanced, but then you only build one. The range and attack speed are similar, both allow the tower to hit enemies more times. Splash is similar in that respect. In theory, you could improove the range of the towers more in the centre of the maze, so they cover more area, while with those at the borders of the maze that dont cover much area anyway you build their attack speed instaed... but this means little, and only a slight imbalance will mean that people will build only one kind of tower. So your system adds little strategy to the game. It is for reasons like this that many people around here don't like to see other people make TD's. |

Thanks for the feedback. Anyways, that's what I feared... after thinking about it. The game is still in early development, so I'm willing to make changes. I was thinking of making some sort of system that you could build all sorts of towers such as melee or long ranged, or something of that sort... Or it could be a possibility that I could add abilities into the mix, I'm not sure yet... the point is to have a wide variety of strategies, custom towers, and lots of mazing. Any suggestions? |

There is a td similar to this, you might want to see if you can get a hold of it, or pm me and I might be able to get it to you. The name is shuruken td (or however you spell the weapon). It was quite poorly done, with some players getting no action and balance issues up the wazoo, but it did seem to have potential, might be a good thing to look at and see what was fun and what wasn't. |

Work on this map is currently halted for now, but I would still like to see the map you're talking about if you can find it. |

Okay, here is that map. I really don't know anything about it, I played it once and it was so outta wack I didn't bother again. It is beta though, so maybe there is a version on another map site that is done better. At least you know the name so you can look if you want to. |
